    tablerock

Hey guys, me and my family are coming up this weekend and i was hoping someone could give me some tips or point me in the right direction. We'll be in a bass boat so we can get around. I have fished Tablerock once before and did so-so. Lot different than fishing down here in S.La. By the way i know lotsa good marsh fishing down here if someone wanted to swap some info or even show a poor coonass how its done up there. Thanks for any info. Adam.

    Re: tablerock (20_lb_sack)

A 5/8 or 3/4 oz football jig brown/purple or pbj with double tail 5" zoom fat albert trailer in green pumpkin or cinammon purple on gravel points and edges of flats. Lots of water in bushes, but for this technique cast to the egde of the bushes and drag out to 25-30 feet.

Also try carolina rigging baby brush hogs in green pumpkins and watermelons

If you are up the river arms a big worm is worth trying.

Let us know how you do!

    Re: tablerock (khart)

My neighbor Paul and I went to Big Bay Monday afternoon. Man...was it hot. We fished
from 5:30pm to about 9:15pm with only one big green sunfish to show for our efforts.
Then around 9:15 or so Paul stuck a big fat 4lb Largemouth and then about a 14"er at
the point. Then it slowed down for another hour or so. We wanted to stick around to
see it any kind of bite developed so we went up to one of our favorite spots and just
kinda camped out on it. And boy are we glad we did. We started hammerin' them.
More details later. I gotta crash.....been up 28 hours now.

Kevin. I appreciate the offer. I managed to tinker my brake together. They are operational for now. I still need to do a major brake job in the future. The only midday bite I can get is on the swings dragging a rig. Fish the major bluff end swings @ daylight with a sharp drop nearby.

    Re: tablerock (khart)

Hey Kevin......If you fish during the day, be sure you bring lots of Gatorade and sun block. Its friggin' hot out there. You'll have a better chance catching quality fish if you
come down after dark. There was a real strong night bite Monday night. We started
really catching a lot of fish after midnight. We had not planned to fish all night, but
they just never quit biting, so we stayed. We found a hump that crested at 18ft deep
and sloped to about 52ft on 3 sides. The 4th side was a "saddle" that connected to a
rocky point. We just went around and around fishing it from different directions,
bumping our baits right on the bottom. We caught SEVERAL nice keeper bass in the
2-4lb range and lost several more at the boat. It was a pretty exciting night. We
caught largemouth, spots and smallmouth. I even caught an 11" goggle eye.

You're right about the friggin heat Steve. The bite's turned cold. Have had to revert to "limp wrist" fishing, down deep.

Paul and I are going again on Monday. We're not even leaving the house until dark.
I hope we can find them again like last Monday. It was late when they started biting,
but it was worth the wait. (I just bought a new "fairy wand" myself in case the shallow
    night bite plays out.)

    Re: tablerock (luvdmymerc)

Just got back. Fished Friday, Sat, Sun all of my bites came in about 30 to 40 feet of water. NOTHING top-water. Lake water temp is 84 to 87 in some areas. I did not fish night, sounds like that's what I should have done.

Not very good fishing but still have a great time on the lake.

Thanks guys for the post. After going to Round Springs for a canoe trip which was big fun, we finally made it to Tablerock sunday afternoon to find the campgrounds & lake full of people. Being my buddy was from Arkansas & familiar with Beaver Lake we opted for the smaller crowds & set up camp at the Beaver Lake Dam site campground. The lake was really nice much smaller crowds & i managed to land a few smallmouth along with a pretty nice largemouth, i did lose a 3-4lb. smallmouth right at the boat(made me sick) but had a real nice time & look forward to next year. One highlight was one morn. my wife decided to sleep in so i took my 2 boys & launched our 21xd Bullet in the white river at the Beaver dam & managed 9 rainbow trout in a few hours, this was pretty exciting for a few S.La. boys. Anyway yall have some beautiful country & water up that way & can't wait till next summer to do it again
