    99 tr21 prop failed

I have a 99 tr21 with a 2006 mercury 225 optimax. The prop on it is a rapture 14x25- 23p, well the hub spun out on me and those are pressed and can’t for the life of me get it out. Is that a good prop to order again or should I get a mercury? And what do y’all recommend. I’m not going for anything crazy. Just to get up and go. My last tr21 I was getting 70mph but no clue what prop was on it. Basically just a basic prop to go out fishing with!

note*. Just bought this boat and went to the lake and hit 30mph then it spun out. Or so I assume. Will go in gear but give it gas it just revs up and does t go anywhere. So I’m not sure how this rapture prop handles or is in general.

get a tempest plus in a 24p merc props by far the best out there-----likely someone threw a cheap prop on there to sell the rig

I agree about putting a cheap one on to sell. Thanks for the input. A guy near me has a tempest plus but 25p, it’s new and asking a good price. Will the 25p be ok for $350 price tag? I know props are a big rabbit hole but just want a decent one to get out and fish ha!

I would definitely try that 25 might be perfect. need to vent it so engine revs up to 3500-3800 rpms on take off with a tournament load also--- I was just thinking a big boat with a slightly undersized motor might be better going one pitch down from normal.. if it is a new prop and it don’t work for you. I would buy it for that price

I ran a 25 Tempest Plus on my 2003 TR-20 with a 2003 and 2012 225hp ProXS. That was the best prop for my boat for hole shot and speed. It would be a good prop for your boat.

Should be able to turn a 25" pitch Tempest fine with that hull and motor.

So, I've got a 97 TR21 (with 1998 225 Opti) and mine doesn't like the Tempest. Mine blows out just as the boat noses over onto plane. ONE time I got it up and running across the lake and it was FAST... maybe yours will get along with it, but mine wasn't happy.

I'm still working on dialing things in, but so far mine has liked the 25P Fury 4 blade and according to the "master" sheet (seems to be missing now....)
The 25 Trophy with the blow-out ring installed is the best.

I'll be redoing setup stuff on mine this weekend, so I'll have more information for you after that.

The 97-01 hulls are different from the 02+. They are similar, but also different from what I've learned. Early hulls are OK in rough water, but Fast. 02+ are Good in rough water, but a little slower.

If it's doing that with the Tempest then you need to lower the motor some or plug the vent holes more.

Thank you all for the input. I’m gonna try the tempest, I can’t beat the price. If it doesn’t run right I will move on and just use the tempest as a spare. Props are such a rabbit hole to go down, it’s sucks they are so expensive or I would try a couple different ones!

I ran a worked Tempest Plus 25P on my 02 TR20 and it would jump out of the hole and run like a scalded dog!

Have you ran a 25 trophy plus on it yet? I’ve got the 97 TR21 with the 225 EFI. I run the trophy but am curious how the Fury 4 blade would act on it?

3 Blade Tempest or 4 Blade Trophy dialed in should get you to mid 70's depending on load and elevation. Note some 4 blades like to sling a blade if damaged at all so I tend to stick with the 3 blades as they have a thicker blade root. Before the latest update we use to have access to archived setups but for some reason that information wasn't brought forward?
