I’m with you. I think B.A.S.S. is definitely moving in the wrong direction, but Mercer ain’t the reason. That’s a difficult job, and I think he does a great job. Seems like a very likable guy as well.

I think he’s a fantastic announcer for BASS, animated but knowledgeable. The amount of stats he can pull off the top of his head about even the greenest of rookies is impressive. People on here rip on him about his weight, his podcasts, his time at BASS, yet he seems to take the better man route

Not a Mercer hatter but when I tried to watch BASS live I was seeing more of him then I was actual fishing. So I guess he's part of the reason I've gone away from BASS.

I think Mercer has to be the announcer he is to satisfy BASS. It might be a little toned down if left up to him. Still does a great job and keeping names, stats, fisherman info and 3 plus hours of high energy up on the stage is actually impressive. His podcast's that I've seen are very decent and low key compared to stage persona.

100% agree! With approx 100 guys on the tour, it can’t be easy to remember such specific details about each guy at blastoff and weigh-in, or to always be so enthusiastic. I give him credit - he’s great at his job.

I didn't care for his drama filled video with that loser Johnston when Johnston was trying to be a tough guy towards Gee, but I'm sure he's told to manufacture drama, and at the very least, he's canadian and loves his fellow canucks. BTW, I wish they'd put tariffs on the Johnstons coming down here to fish.....hate both of them! I also like the NPFL guy but Mercer is better.

Canterbury is beloved and gets a pass because he’s a southern boy, but Johnston was demonized and people call for his removal, for doing the exact same stuff, because he’s Canadian?

that’s fair haha. Honestly even when they fished the BFLs up here they were very polarizing. Cory Johnston won the first BFLni fished as a coangler and there was definitely a group of guys were were fairly vocal about it

I've never understood the hate for Mercer. Dude does a good job for what he's having to do. An MC for a bass tournament can't be easy
