    Recon steering issues

Just installed a Lowrance 48”fw recon and everything works except steering. I can seeit on my network can connect to my remote, foot pedal and iPhone app. I can turn on the prop and increase speed but nothing will make the shaft turn. I can turn it by hand (easily and can hear the gears/motor turning) but can’t with anything else (remote, foot pedal or mfd). I’m guessing the steering motor isn’t getting power or something like that (it makes zero noise when I ask it to turn). It does throw an error code for bow offset and compass calibration but I can’t do either of those because the motor won’t turn. It’s acting like a fuse is blown but I don’t think there is any owner serviceable fuses. The breaker didn’t trip anyway and I’m obviously getting power to the prop. I have a call into Lowrance but they are out of the office till Tuesday I assume. Any ideas?

Btw if I can get the steering thing fixed it will be a super nice TM. The foot pedal feels nice and the remote with the joystick feature will be epic. Super quiet and pushes the boat (champ 202) nicely.

Did you mess with the collar? I remember reading someone mention if you messed with the collar it started acting up

Ha. I remember reading that somewhere as well and looked all over for the post but couldn’t find it. No. I didn’t mess with anything.

I would make sure that the head is lined up with the forward mark on top of the transmission collar. Then do a factory reset. Then recalibration.
The shaft collar must be in the correct position with the collar locked in the forward position on the transmission.

I just tried a factory reset with the collar in the correct position and it didn’t change the behavior at all. Thanks for the input.

Check page 16 of the Installation manual.

I will try this when I get to the boat again this afternoon but I don’t see how this would change anything. I can unlock the cam as is but if I turn it over the latch will be hidden under the shaft. The way it is now the shaft locks in place when deployed and I have to push on the deploy/stow latch to unlock it.

Yeah sorry, I thought it had some effect on the operation but I can't see how.

You could take a peek at the control board and see if the transmission is actually connected. I wouldn't do more than that though. They are pretty simple and essentially an updated Xi5.
