Gotta look overseas for ECU flashing for Mercs, there’s a place in Finland and another in Sweden. They may no longer offer it either with how Merc scares everyone off. I noticed EMT removed all of their posts about it as well.

If it's like the regular 115 it's probably about maxed out as is for that block. Now if it was a 75 or 90hp it would probably make a little difference. It's sure not worth flashing my 115 SHO for probably no real world performance gain.

It is amusing how grown men argue over something so trivial as flashing a motor. It is not recommended by the manufacturer (fact). It does modify the emissions of the motor from how it left the factory which is against government regulations (fact). If you choose so, then have at it. Motors are not $4000 anymore, they are around $20,000 and flashing them carries a much higher financial risk from a healthy motor standpoint and even a liability lawsuit. If you choose to have it done. Go ahead, I do not care but stop arguing about it like two teen girls arguing over who likes who better.

I've heard Mercury can be notoriously difficult when it comes to warranty work. I know someone who had to fight with them about it with his nearly new 250 lower unit shelling out for no good reason. And know a local pro who had the lower unit on his 250 start dripping oil in his garage right before heading out for a big tournament. Difference with the pro is they have to take care of him whether they want to or not.

With gearcases for sure because so many warranty claims may be traced back to impacts that certainly don't fall in line with warranty failures. A lot of times, even a small impact that may or may not have actually damaged anything could be enough to deny a claim and it is very difficult to prove otherwise.

I have had several warranty claims with Mercury over the years and it has not been a problem at all. It has all been through Don so maybe he makes things easier. Lower units are a whole other deal IMO. If there are ANY signs of impact then it should be an insurance claim not a warranty claim. If you hit a light pole in a BPS parking lot, it is an insurance claim, not a warranty!

One of the things Don has educated me on is when an impact with something occurs, get it documented and tested. As an example, you may hit a stump and bend an ear. You get the prop fixed or replaced and move on. In actuality, you bent the prop shaft and it is going to take quite a while to wear on the seals then allow water intrusion then fry your LU. The owner claims it should be covered under warranty but it is an insurance claim.

That will eventually lead to decapitation once you open it up to WOT.
There's lots of decaffeinated brands that are just as tasty as the real thing.

So did mercury drop the hammer again? I don't see any advertisements of EMT flashes anymore.

They were so confident that Mercury was allowing only them to do it
