Thumbs Up After people pointing me to the Smith&Wesson Shield in 2020,

I picked up my fourth in the Shield lineup today, after purchasing it online on the 6th. I got the 40 this time. I got me the glow sights and all, like I did when I got my performance center 10mm before.

I am definitely a Smith & Wesson fan boy, and a G.O.A. life member. It's a shame there's lobbyists, but good they are fighting a fight I can't, other than my frequent calls and emails.

From the morning I picked it up I wished I felt good enough to hit the range. But I haven't yet.

One day.I hope anyway. MRI for low back scheduled for June 4th. I can't wait for back surgery, to finally have my low back repaired.

It is hard to find .40s these days. IMO they are the best compromise of pros and cons when it comes to cartridges for bottom feeders for self defense unless we are talking very small handguns. The shield is probably near that line where I would probably rather go with a 9mm.

I have numbers of 9mm pistols. And have used lots of 9mm since 2020. But plenty of videos have people saying 40s&w is not bad out of the M&P 40 Shield. I believe in one the guys daughter is 14, and she says she really likes it. I will see. I have been shooting a good amount of 10mm, so I think me and my bad shoulders and body will be alright with it. No way I would be shooting a 20, 12 gauge, or high powered Dessert Eagle or anything like that though. I just have to lean on the tables, take breaks, and try and work with my issues while out there. And can't get out there enough.

I got out today. I put 100 rounds through it. Then I went and shot one of my rifles. I don't remember how many rounds I had in the target when I took the photo. I needed to use the bathroom when I got done with the pistol. And I had to get my brass up, and get my stuff together. And forgot to get a photo at the end. Rifle I was terrible with today. I am going to have to read the book for my scope. I got shooting way higher than the last time out there.

I know, not good. But I am gimpy and don't get out much. But I am trying.

So many people are against our Constitution. Shall not be infringed is plain and simple. And I hear so many anti-United States of America people saying what they don't think people should have, or should not be able to open carry, or people shouldn't be able to carry until they have proper training. Those same anti-United States of America people can't complain about any restrictions on them if they are fine with having them for others. Shall Not Be Infringed is plain and simple Second Amendment hating basstards. Even hearing stuff on the range. Why do people hate the foundation of this country?!!

Do you try and save your rifle brass? Or do you even save your pistol brass? I only do the rifle.

I'm starting to think I have a hoarding problem with brass. I just got some more last week. I reload for everything I own and there is no possible way I can reload this much. Now if I had a dillon press, that would be a different story.

    Same here
    Im a brass whore also.
I pick everything up that is centerfire.
Some ill reload. Some ill trade or sell off.

As for your target picture. I don't think its bad at all. Just depends on what you are doing with your firearm.
For me personally I use mine for Carry. I don't competition shoot any more. So i base everything at the range on carry.
And the Shield isn't something I would consider a tac driver. Its small which makes them harder to be accurate with for the normal guy.
I bought one years ago when they first came out. Mine was actually the first one that was sold at our local guy years ago.
It dosent shoot near as accurate as my full frame 1911.
But its apples and oranges there comparing the two.

My Smith&Wesson M&P Shields are just to conceal and mess around at the range when I get out. Other short barrel one fits in the category as well. Others are thicker with longer barrels. I could conceal some, and have. But really they are for the house, vehicle, and range play. My 5" barrel ones don't fit with my stuff in my glove compartment of the truck. So they are pretty much in their safes. But I shoot them at the range at times. If I knew I was going into the woods I would probably have my Smith&Wesson M&P 10mm Performance Center M2.0 with me, with my 40 probably still conceal. I just hoard. I do it with fishing stuff and now stuff for the range. I have had staff at different medical facilities tell me I have to find something to push myself to do. And in my shape there's not much I can do. I know I frustrate people at the range because I don't move fast at all. So if I have to put up my targets, they are normally waiting on me. It stinks being gimpy, but doctors haven't fixed me yet. My nerves were shot yesterday, I couldn't steady anything after having to put my target up on the rifle range. I guess about 1/4 of the time a range officer will help, maybe. If that. Isn't like I did much yesterday, but I am paying for it.
