    250 Pro XS tilt issue

2021 250 Pro XS four stroke s/n 3B012119. Have an issue with motor tilt. Trim works fine, has the full range of motion, but when it goes into tilt, comes off the trim rods about 2 inches then stops. Worked fine the other day until I got home and went to raise the motor to unhook the motor toter. Acts like it is hitting an upper limit. Does the same thing at all threes switches. Possible causes? Haven’t had time to deep dive into it yet, just asking in case someone else has had the same issue. Thanks

Raise your engine up, and check the retainer for the UPPER center tilt ram crosspin (pin rod-eye bolt). Looks like a bolt, but it's really a set-screw.

If this becomes loose (or falls out), the rod-eye pin can migrate and interfere with proper trim sender operation (thus altering trim or tilt limits).

Will check it out and see if that is the fix. Thank you.

Well, looks like the pin is sticking out about an inch, so the bolt/set screw is probably gone. Motor won’t trim up far enough for me to see though. Is there any way to fool the trim sensor to get the motor lifted with power, or is it going to have to be manually raised?

Locate the trim sensor connector inside the cowling (port side at front, it's a very small AND DELICATE connector).

Unplug the sensor... trim should run up after you've unplugged it.

Sounds right.... very small, flat connector.
