    24 520r hole shot issues.

Having hole shot issues on my 2024 520r/250 Merc 4s. Boat Has an atlas hydro and a 23 fury(3blade). Even when I trim it all the way down/under and Adjust the hydro plate anywhere from all the way down and up to 70% on the ride settings for the plate. This thing just does not want to crest and get on plane. It gets out of the hole better when up higher on the hydro but then blows out when the boat breaks/crests over finally. Still under 12 hours on motor and will now get up to 5800rpms as part of break in procedures. But man is this thing a dog out of the hole. (More than 5 seconds to break over so I can start triming up)

4 lithiums, 1 agm and not overloaded in the front with most heavy items (under 150lbs)in the passenger rear box to balance the boat out with a driver. Gets even worse with a full live well and full tank of gas. ( or partner in boat)

    Any suggestions

Are you sure it’s reaching 100% throttle? That seems to be a problem on these four strokes during the set up process

My 2022 520 with the 250ProXS is sorta the same way.

it has lithiums and hydro plate. Added a holeshot plat to the jackplate. Didn’t help. Moved weight all over the place, no help. Went to a Tempest Plus 23 prop and everything fell into place. Pretty decent holeshot with two people, full fuel, and livewells filled. Top speed is hovering around 66-68 depending on water conditions. It’s WAY easier to get the bow up and it steers effortlessly with the Tempest too. The Fury is now in the bilge, bolted down as a backup.

So I had originally had an issue where I could not get over 3800 rpm’s. Then I took it to a Merc Mechanic I know and he was stating that when they put in the hotfoot, they never readjusted the throttle cable, and then put me on the computer. So I am getting like 99 on the top end (want to say 1.7 low end but can’t remember).

In my experience, those boats don't come out of the hole good with the plate down, try starting it around 45%. Fury 3 blade no plugs.

Do you have the vents in the prop open or plugged? Definitely have the throttle checked to make sure it is opening 100%.

The R series do best, trimmed all the way down, plate around 35.
Once you break over, start lowering plate and trim motor up. That will fix you blowing out.

Thats the best hole shot I can get and it's still slow compared to the C series boats.

Yeah I have mine at or around 30 to 35 depending on amount of gas.

Not sure, I can look today, but I do see a better hole shot there with my 4Blade 24p Fury and my tournament load.

Thinking that route 1ranger487vs. I already have a bravo1 xs that I ran on my old boat. Ordering hub kit as that is my next thought. Btw- Anyone know the updated kit # for the 840389k06 1.25? I see some places have it as 8m0183487 but not sure that is correct yet.

Do you have a 10 or 12 inch plate on your boat? I'm just surprised to hear anyone having holeshot issues with this boat. My 24 520r with 12" plate and 23p fury 3 is great out of the hole even with every compartment full, livewell full, and 3 people over 250lb. With 1 or 2 people and empty livewell it is a true rocket out of the hole.

IMG_8496.jpegSlipnobber bot—. This has a 10” atlas hydro. Curious if it is set too high. 23 fury. But now curious if the 10” plate versus the 12” makes that much difference. What’s your top end out of curiosity with your set up.

measure ptp and set it at 3.25 below. then don't move it while testing set what plate gauge says at the position
