    Nema issue on Garmin

For whatever reason my Garmin no longer displays any info from my 250 sho (24 mdl) I had it installed when I had the motor installed a couple months ago an it worked for the break in period but since then nothing. Any ideas before I have to take it back for my 20 hr check up. Thanks

I would check 2 things first:

1.) Does the NMEA backbone have power?
2.) Is the NMEA cable coming from the motor connected properly at both ends and not damaged?

It is pretty simple network. Check the NMEA cable tees and make sure none connections are loose. Check the power to one of the tees, should have a fuse holder. Check the connection on the engine, port side, and on your garmin unit as well.

im gonna check into it tomorrow after work. The whole system is brand new an installed by the tech when I had the SHO installed about 2 mos ago. Honestly I thought I’d get more info from the system than I’m getting. No hours, no water pressure.

Hours is a gauge you have to add from the menus, its a little buried. Water pressure requires a sensor, but from what I've been told by SIM Yamaha if your boat has an analog water pressure gauge you have to disconnect it to get the digital one working. either way the gauge and fittings from Yamaha are around $225, but you can get equivalents on amazon for far less. I decided to leave it be until my analog gauge on the dash craps out then switch over.

You have to add most info to the screen. Water pressure, fuel consumption requires devices to be added to give input to the NMEA network.

You can get hours, oil pressure, engine temp, rpm I know for sure as I use these. They're may be a couple of others things I'm missing. I got what I wanted set up. I believe you can do this as well; you can choose 6 functions or 4 functions on a screen. And have different functions on different screens.

I was able to get fuel consumption and fuel level without anything more than the nmea connection on my garmin on my 90 sho, havent taken the 200 out yet to see. Dont see why they would be different there but im not sure.

    Xpress buddy!!! I got a x19 too, 2023...lol.

what cables do I need to install the NMEA network from my Garmin graph to my motor? I want hours more than anything...

I called Yamaha and Garmin, both told me I had to spend upward of $750 to purchase a module as well as the cables to install. I have read online that you really just need the below:

    1. NMEA2000 Connection with T Connector. $29.99 Amazon. (UNLESS THE #2 has it already)
    2. NMEA 2000 Starter Kit. $104.99 off Garmin Website
    3. Yamaha Engine Interface Cable for NMEA 2000. $109.99 off Lowrance Website

I got a starter kit, the yamaha interface cable off a guy named dbillingsfl on ebay, and an extra tee. The Yamaha cable didn't come with a tee. Then you just connect the NMEA power to battery or fuse block, connect the drop cables for power, motor, and graph, then set it up on your graph.

Yea, I paid to have mine installed when they installed my 24 sho it worked while I got did my breakin. I switch my Garmin to function as a graph for awhile. I swapped back to the nema function an it has no info. I fooled with it for a few minutes an nothing works except the gauge display.

I believe I spent about $70 to $80 on the NMEA backbone. Another $35 on Amazon for another drop cable for something I don't remember. Anyway easily under $200, we'll worth it IMO.
