    No pee stream

    2016 Mercury 250hp optimax proxs. 2-stroke

    serial 2b 229882

hey guys I need some help I have a 250 proxs merc 2stroke ,I was getting the boat ready for the first time out and when I put the hose on it an started it for the first time I got no pee stream ,so I made sure the pee hose was clear along with other hoses and no obstruction,. So I took the t-stats out and one of them was bad so since it needed them I put new ones in and tried again on the hose with no pee stream so I went to the next likely culprit and put a new waterpump kit in.well I tried again today on the muffs and again no pee stream so I figured it’s time to turn to the wisdom on bbc to get some help on what I need to do next to solve the issue much appreciated

Check your compressor strainer. Your pee stream goes through your compressor

Compressor strainer? Where is that located, now I just came from the lake and I backed the motor into the water and started it ,after a min it started to pee a weak stream then when I gave it some throttle the alarm went off I shut it down, waited ten minutes and repeated it again after 30 sec the alarm went off but when I hit the heads with my infrared temp gun it only read 120 degrees?

locate the plastic fitting just below shift bracket that feeds water to compressor it has a screen in it , but while your there with the lowers off inspect the poppet valve for stuck open you likely have low block pressure , if w/p is 100% and all of this is confirmed proceed to testing for blown base gaskets under powerhead = no block pressure no peee , make sense ???? horn was neutral overspeed

Well we checked all this and all looks good took it to the lake and get the same long alarm 30 seconds after running, the pee stream is very weak until you give it throttle but when I give it throttle the alarm goes off but the motor is not over 130 degrees

Motor should "pee" strong without giving throttle in neutral. Giving throttle above 1000 RPM's in neutral will set the alarm off.
Motor should warm up to 120-130 at IDLE, NO THROTTLE.
Something is being missed or overlooked.

You should get the faults read, so there is no guessing about what the exact problem is.

Ken... Either you have an air leak at the water pump, o-ring on the water tube connector, poppet valve sticking open, or leaking/malfunctioning thermostats (make sure you use ONLY OEM thermostats... have yet to see ONE good aftermarket).
