    I must be stupid..

Only thing I can figure is I’m stupid.. brought my piece of crap garbage Mercury 9.9 (brand new) back to bass pro today… explained how I can’t get it to crank when I go fishing…. Went from having to pull 10-15 times to day before yesterday I pulled it probably 30 times until I couldn’t pull it anymore… wouldn’t crank.. put the trolling motor down and fished a while…. Tried again, 20-30 pulls, it cranks.. let it warm up high idle, ran fine… Yesterday, same damn crap…. Now I have an audience again… brand new motor, will not crank.. 30 pulls, nothing.. so, I dropped my trolling motor, fished, caught fish… tried to crank it again.. 30 pulls, it cranks.. I ran 5 minutes down the bayou.. fished a few minutes, ran back and fished by the launch again..

bring it to bass pro today, explained all that, made it a point to say it’s EMBARRASING to be at a launch ramp with a brand new motor that will not crank…. Left it..

they call me 4 or 5 hours later, sure enough- hey Mr Breaux, we can’t replicate your issue.. mechanic says it started second pull.. choked it and it cranked second pull, running fine…

I said dude, I somehow predicted this exact thing would happen.. I am not stupid, I have been fighting this motor since day 1…. I’m to the point, I HATE that motor.., I don’t want it…

im going to go pick it up tomorrow.. wasted 50 mile trip there and back today, and will do it again tomorrow..

im putting it on facebook marketplace for sale but now, I’m worried about someone buying it and they have problems with it…

im almost thinking the mechanic did some quick fix and just didn’t say anything.. (I’m thinking maybe choke linkage was unhooked or something and he noticed it and fixed it before trying)

im so disgusted with that stupid thing..

if I can get this garbage sold, I will absolutely be buying a new Yamaha EFI and Mercury can kiss it….

Just in case your suspicion of the mechanic fixing it is right, aren't you going to give it a few tries before selling it?

I would have the technician who worked on your motor go through it with you when you pick it up. Have him go through the complete starting procedure and ask him to start it with you there. THEN, if it doesn't start you should sell it! Good luck either way!

I feel like it could be flashed to 14.3, though.

When you go back to get it have that mechanic crank it for you to see if it does indeed crank on the 2nd pull. If it does, then you try to crank it and see if it does the same for you.

Make sure you disclose the starting issue to whoever buys it so they know what they're getting into...

just give in any use the electric start. No shame in that.

Buy a $800 lithium battery for it.

Maybe a 16v battery will get better performance.

Hook up the gas line at home. Pump bulb tight then drive to ramp.

pump bulb tight. Trim motor all the way down. All the way tilt and back to level.

    reset the kill switch

Bet it will start out of the water.

start it at home first. Then go to ramp. It it won’t start in water, next time start it at home, leave it running and drive to ramp.

Launch at tie up. When you see a man, ask him to pull it.

Laughter is the best. You’re going to be fine.

I had a brand new leaf blower like that. And a Stihl no less. Took it back after thoroughly reading the manual to no avail. The dealer asked me when was the last time I tried to start it. I said maybe an hour ago. He said OK, that's long enough. He went through his procedure and it popped right off. Once I learned that dam things' personality all was good. That was in 2013. Still pops right off on the third pull. Blowed a lot of leaves in the last 12 years.
    GETFISHED !!!

    Best advice right there.
