Have you ever caught the same bass twice?

I had caught a 5 lb largemouth on a worm/spider head rig. It was hooked good and while I was trying to get it out the fish shook and I lost my grip. It fell on the deck and broke off the leader, then went into the water water with the hook still in.

An hour later I was 300 yards away from that spot and caught the same fish. It still had my rig in the jaw. I was surprised that it had moved that far and that it was willing to take the identical bait.

I guess it was really hungry!

I caught a 5 lb large mouth with those darling tattoos all the way down one side. The next day a buddy in my boat caught that same fish in the area. 6 months later I got a surprise when that same tattooed bass was caught again

I always keep at least one change of clothes in the boat.

Every nice one you catch can turn into multiple catches with just a couple quick photos.

A couple years ago, I had a bass break my jig off on a hook set. About five minutes later my buddy caught a bass on a jig and when I netted the fish, my jig fell into the floor of the boat.

Not me individually, but a layup from my cousin.

he was using a jig and hooked into a bass which broke his line almost immediately. I made fun of him hard for his lousy knots and line. Few casts later I caught the same fish with a Texas rigged creature bait. Took the jig out of the fishes mouth and tossed it to my cousin

Was fishing a private pond as a teen and broke off on hookset. Was using one of dad's old green Strike King (I think) worms with the diamond pattern. Went back down there a few hours later and dad was with me watching me fish. Was using another identical green worm and set the hook and got that one in. Still had the worm I lost in its throat. Not sure about the hook. Dad said he wouldn't have believed that happened if he hadn't of been there to witness it. He still tells that story all these years later.

Yep, In a pond in SE wisconsin I was on the bank fishing an inflow. I hooked a 2.5lber using a jig. As I lifted it over some reeds my line broke and it dropped back in. It was the only jig I had with me. I retied a 4' worm. I caught two small bass on it. Threw back in the inflow. The wormed was slammed. I pulled it in and it was the same fish that broke off, but with a mouthful of my jig hooked in the roof of its mouth.

I broke a fish off at the swivel on a caroling rig. A few casts later my buddy got a bite, set the hook and caught the fish that I broke off. He hooked the eye of the swivel using a weedless texas rig. What are the odds?

In the neighborhood pond, yes I definitely have.

At a local lake, Lake Lewisville, my buddy and I caught the exact same 6lb bass in the same area a couple days apart. This fish had a huge knot on it's head, easy to ID!

I have, I caught a bass one time that had a very distinctive scar on its side. I circled back around a couple hours later and fished the same spot and caught the fish again. No doubt it was the same fish.

I was fishing a buddy tournament and was telling my partner that I caught a 2# tattooed fish the day before from the spot we were approaching. I caught it again on the same shaky head worm.

Some kayak anglers have had catches disqualified because they caught the same fish twice, that was evident from their submitted photos.

Yes. Casted out and got bit. Set the hook and broke off during the fight. Retied and casted back in to the same spot and got bit. Got it to the boat and it had both worms and hooks in its mouth.

When we were teenagers, me and my buddy were fishing minnows with cane poles, in a pond, standing near each other. He hung one about 2 lbs, and it was putting up a fight. I just left my minnow in the water as I watched and was telling him how to play it. The fished jumped numerous times, the last time his hook and cork landed at his feet. That fish landed, minus his hook, on top of my cork. I pulled it and low and behold I hooked the fish in the body and landed it. We both had a good laugh about it.

Yes in a couple of occasions. One time in the early 80’s, my stepbrother broke off and a couple cast later I caught the same bass with his lure in its mouth. Caught a bass in a small local creek in January that had a gash in its side, no doubt from a small pike or musky. I let it go and immediately casted back into the current and wham, caught the same exact bass.

While bed fishing, I had one break me off. About 3 minutes later he was back on his bed and I could see my jig in his mouth. I worked that fish for a good half hour longer and eventually he bit again. Caught the fish and was able to get my jig back.

Off of a bed, yes, several times. Once I had a bass in my live well for a couple hours. It had a some sores on it. Culled it out and a couple hours later I caught it again.

Have a good one and thank God for it!
