    '15 721 Pro XP w/225

Looking at purchasing a 2015 721 with an Evinrude 250 HO on it. Not a fan of the Evinrude, have a 21 Merc 225 PRO XS I could install. What performance do y'all think I would see or not see with the 225?

    I wouldn't do it, a boat that size needs a 300hp.

Buy it, put the 225 on it and flash it to a 250!

This guy has not been in a bird no less a 721. The 15 721 has a very narrow front end just like most of the birds of that era. May not hit 77 with a 225hp but I'd bet it would satisfy my needs.

That Evinrude has near zero value. Run it hard. You got nothing to lose.

Man I am not sure but I know it can be done. There are threads on BBC I would imagine. I'd bump my 200 to a 225 but don't want to wipe out my warranty.

Run the hell out of the Rude until it’s no more, then put the 225 on it. I don’t have experience with a Phoenix but I would imagine it would be decent with the 225

Itll be just fine with a 225 on it unless you want to run at the upper limit all the time. I know one guy that has a 225 opti on his and he runs right with everybody else in tournaments.

that boat can run upwards of 80 mph with a 250. I think a 225 would be fine. People get their egos too involved

Here's the rating plate off of my 14 721. It 250 hp rated. Out the 21 model 225 on it and go fish. A little slower on top end.
