    Canada report

Water is the warmest I've seen it here on day one of our trip at 57 so I got in some topwater smallies we had a typical Rainy lake day with 127 smallies and several walleye and some pike too. Love this place!

Holy crap!! I hope you have a glove on the handle all those bass! How is the water level up there? As you know we need rain at our home lake. Starting to see the levels dropping already. I hope the winds aren’t bad up there… it’s nasty windy today!

It was in upper 80’s here for several days and then 40 degree drop today and numbers showed it with only 26 smallies, 5 walleye and several pike on a cold rainy day. Spitting snow tonight but then gets better. My hands needed the break anyway these smallies are so fat and spitting up food. Biggest smallie today was 4.49

I was at Mil Lacs Monday to Friday, beds were very 15' on Thursday, the cold front that hit backed them off friday only smalls up there. Its early for them to be on beds like that. I left Friday afternoon, go back next week probably depending on weather. Got plans for this weekend.

My best was a 5.7 on Tuesday.

Yeah, bed fishing or fishing that shallow isn't my thing. I'll probably be back up there the 26th or 27th.

I was the only boat on the lake half the time. I might have been in the wrong area, never had another boat come in and fish the shallow's I was fishing and catching them on.

I’m assuming you brought enough warm clothes and I guess this isn’t your first trip up there so you know what it can be like. Hopefully someday I can do a fishing vacation!!

Sounds like a blast Jim! It'll probably be tough coming home and fishing after a trip like that. Can't say as that cold/rain/wind sounds like fun, but it sure is more tolerable when you're catching fish.

Winds and weather have been brutal this year for us. Today us two dumb asses went out in winds 40 plus but we caught 40 plus smallmouth (normally over 100). We also had a first in that I threw a jerk on a point and got slammed by one mean 5lb plus whitefish. While I was fighting it Russ caught another one just as big. Those things do not stop fighting!

Packed up and headed home in the morning. Our thumbs can’t handle any more and we are out of band aids. 420 smallmouth, 101 pike, and 39 walleye. My partner keeps accurate records because I lose count after 5
