Call a broker, that's what I did. They or maybe just he does not get paid by you. They know Insurance and can do market plans and ACA plus dental and vision if wanted.

I used Matt not sure what other states he can help in, maybe all. Awesome experience. They rest of the brokers I called where very spotty to return info. if they did at all.

    Matt and team are GREAT!

If professionals who's careers depend on catching fish use FFS then that's what I'm using. Might be too simple of a philosophy but makes sense to me.

Not sure why someone with reading comprehension needs a broker to sign up for ACA health insurance. There are only 2 companies that offer ACA health insurance in VT. I chose a BCBSVT plan that qualifies for using my HSA funds and still make contributionss prior to this year.

I will sign up for Medicare on August 1st. I’ve been studying it for the last year and don’t need help with that either. Will keep my income capped at $106k or less to pay the premiums at the lower amounts.

if ACA does not work due to income too high, then a broker can find best private insurance.

As far as I know, if income is to high, it just means that a person doesn't get a subsidy and pays full price.

different insurance pays different amounts for certain coverage, especially meds. Doctor networks are also different. So, you can pay the same premium, but less for drugs and doctor visits. A broker can compare that.

Did you get a supplement or an advantage plan? I got a supplement and my Medicare plan is half that. I’m only on two meds and they’re so common and inexpensive the plan is free.

There is a company called Move that apparently can help you pick the best plan for your situation. I have not used them but saw them mentioned in a few retirement planning videos. May be worth a look to see if it is something that may be of use to you.

    Congrats!

My parents are struggling with this too. My mom retired in January of 2024 and paid marketplace premiums for a year and basically returned to work part time and her old job offered her benefits.

It certainly isn't financially easy for someone to retire before medicare kicks in, which is unfortunate. Good luck!
