I asked about Champions because I recently did a driver shaft fitting at one. The experience itself was great. But then the price hit me like a coot at 80mph without a helmet. He had made a couple of similar comments like you mentioned. I asked for 24 hours because I knew the going rate on the shaft I settled on and Champion was $200+ high. And he gave me the tuning sales pitch. I asked him to just order the shaft and I’d install it myself. He said he couldn’t. Gave me a bad taste. Went home and did a lot of research. My conclusion was tuning is a thing, but it’s not as big a factor as they make it. It’s equal to a car dealership charging $300 for $20 lock nuts on wheels and bluffing they can’t not do it. It’s just a money grab. Pure profit. I found the exact shaft at a local old school golf shop working out of a country club pro shop. Got it for close to half the price of Champions. My first and only shaft fitting and it was a game changer for me - longer and straighter. First time ever for me to spend money on a high quality shaft. I got the Ventus blue 6-S with velacore tip.
