    How to catch moving fish

Just got LS about 3 months ago as I retired and really trying to capitalize on it. It has definitely helped as I've been able to quickly rule out dead water and move on to more productive water.

Anyway, the problem I am having is really how to fish for actively moving fish that are swimming around in the water column. I have been able to watch them swim up to my lure and give it a wave while they are driving by... but that is it. I equate it to watching rabbits hop around for no rhyme or reason and changing course continuously.

I can definitely see good sized bass based on their profile, tail, etc. But this is quite frustrating.

It definitely drives you nuts! Really makes you realize how many times you have probably been around fish and not had them bite. Only thing I can say is if they aren't biting what you are throwing, time to try something else.

It's the experience that all of us Livescopers experience. You have to learn how to change lures more quickly based on the reaction that you see on the screen. Livescope definitely changes what you learned about fishing. The tech helps for fishing, although it doesn't always help for catching because you can still end up getting skunked.

You can learn quickly what works and what doesn't

if they just turn and run a new type of bait is needed

If they stare at it or follow the bait its a matter of size, color or action

but even then you will find sometimes nothing will get them to commit

If fish are roaming and shallow perspective mode can help put your bait out in front of them consistently

I just laugh at the people who have never used Livescope when they say how easy it makes bass fishing. I would say I am an 8/10 with crappie and a 2/10 with bass. When I see a bass while crappie fishing, by the time I put my crappie pole down and grab my fairy wand, the bass is gone.

Having sat on Paul Mark’s boat and watched his screen all day at Lake Fork, I can ensure you that even the top players don’t remotely get all followers to commit. Not even close!

It comes with the territory, sometimes you can make adjustments but if a fish doesn’t commit on the first cast, the odds of it working on the second cast are very low.

I use it to get rid of dead water and find structure only............keeping it pointed and studying the reaction to any bait I throw is too much like work.

I'm in crankbait pulling for crappie mode right now, so my LVS32 is just pointed in the direction of my trolling motor helping me keep tabs on if I'm heading towards fish at various contours ahead of the boat and if I need to adjust to different areas--it's definitely not pointed behind the boat for me to watch my crankbaits.
