    200 Optimax or EFI

Looking at maybe retiring my 1998 EFI. Not looking to get a four stroke, a newer two stoke. I have been looking at some lower hours motors, which motor would you buy? EFI or Opti ?

Since you say a newer 2-stroke, Optimax.

My 2007 Opti has been flawless. Wouldn’t hesitate to own another one.

Same here. Only problem was the oil tank sensor started lying and had to be replaced. Gas mileage is phenomenal.

I would go with an Optimax over the 4 stroke Mercury. How much do you want for your current engine?

Just out of curiosity: Those saying "Optimax": Are you factoring in cost of, and availability of future replacement components/parts (for instance: Direct Injectors and fuel system components)?

Don't take me wrong: I love the Optimax models. What I don't love are the cost of some of the replacement parts (and that is very likely going to get MUCH worse).

For the most part the cost of replacement parts for the 4 strokes aren't much cheaper.

Definitely the case with major assemblies. Now something like injectors... different story.
