    VesselView on a 175 Optimax?

    Hello!

I have a 175 Optimax, Model 1175P73EY, and long story short - the boat itself is older and re-engined in 2013 or 2014, and I only have Fuel Level, RPM & Trim gauges (fuel level needs a new sending unit - so technically it doesnt work). I thought that VesselView Mobile might be a good substitute?

What would be helpful for me:
    • Fuel Consumption - How detailed is this? (aka... can I find a sweet spot for longer rides for the best economy vs. speed more in that 38-48mph range - we have a fishing trip that we go on where we do 50-100mi on the water each day.)
    • Water PSI - I honestly don't know when the impeller was serviced, it pee's fine - but this should give me an idea, right?
    • RPM's - I suspect the boat's RPM gauge might not be the most accurate
    • Fault Codes

It's totally app contained, correct? (No cell service needed? We do fish a lake that has zero service)

Someone had suggested I check to see if my engine was compatible with VesselView mobile, but I thought they all were after 2006 or so?

First and Foremost: Yes, your engine is compatible.

That said: Let's steer toward a different device. Vesselview Mobile has been Discontinued.

You'll want to look at the Smartcraft CONNECT system. It's available in a MOBILE (wireless) version, a WIRED (HELM) version with NMEA-2000 and Graph Display support, or an ENGINE mounted version that also has NMEA-2000 and graph support.

Drop Rhonda in our Parts Department an email: She can set you up!

BTW... make sure you download the Mercury LIFESTYLES (black icon) App for these devices (NOT a VesselView App).

If you would, please remember to provide your Engine Serial Number when posting (or when ordering parts). Thanks!

THANK YOU for the quick reply - I'm thinking the Mobile version would work best for me - but I'd love some feedback....

I have a Lowrance Elite FS9, which I understand this could be connected to which would likely be best in some scenarios - but - most of the time I would want to utilize this tool is when we're running the big lake, and I need to have my tracks/maps up - so I think having a second screen would be better, so I was looking at using my cell phone or even an older tablet if it's compatible with the app.

From what I have read, it feels like the app isn't cell signal dependent - just bluetooth to the engine's dongle... just to confirm, no outside signal is needed other than bluetooth? The lake we fish is off the grid with zero signal.

Engine communications can be done without a cell signal, but you WILL want to have a device that regularly has internet if using one of the app-style devices.

For that purpose, Smartcraft Connect MOBILE (or better yet, Smartcraft Connect HELM, giving you the capabilities for NMEA-2000 functionality on networked (compatible) graphs).
