any recommendations for a sharpener that won't break the bank, mostly use on kitchen knives and filet knives, easy to use would be nice.

The best is a wet stone
Norton does sell a smaller 3 stone kit (You need Medium, Coarse and Fine)

If that doesn't work for you
The pull thru's are cheap and easy to use. I'd still buy one with 3 stones

Do you want an electic sharpener?
I have a Smith's that is adequate.
Surprisingly, the Presto brand motor seems a little stronger and does not bog down as much as the Smith. Maybe that is not a good thing and the Smith slows on purpose.
Japanese water stones for me. Unless you are going all in a combo stone is your best bet.
This is a good source but there are many others:

I use a Work Sharp Precision sharpener. https://www.sharpeningsupplies.com/p...20group%20%231
Added the Upgrade sharpening kit. The one drawback is I can’t use for some of my Wusthof Santoku knives which have a 12 degree angle blade. But, I have a ceramic stick and a Wusthof 4 stage sharpener for those couple of knives. https://www.wusthof.com/products/uni...1b3c355186f5ca
It has a Standard (15 degree) and Asian (10 degree) stage.

I bought this pull-thru and it works good enough for my kitchen knives. Don't have anything fancy though, but it'll get them sharp enough.

DMT's work great and I also have a set of Shapton Glass stones. My wife has several Wusthof knives and she likes having them sharp as a razor.
