It's not like Yeti level, but it will keep a bag of ice pretty much all day. Works fine IMO...

I have a Z20 and yea the ice lasts a long time, but when it does melt the water stays cold for a long time afterward. if you put cold stuff in there instead of grabbing waters from the garage and throwing them in, will make a difference too.
i think the cooler is very good. i think one problem is the trash can is in there too, and I always seem to be opening it to put trash in it. But i would never want to give up the trash can.

It'll keep ice all day for sure. Even 2 days if its not too hot out

The cooler is nice. A throw a bag in there and forget it.
How dry do the compartments stay in rain?

i don't have too much of an issue with wet lockers. Never noticed. i know i have fished a few times in the hard rain, and having to open a locker in the rain means its gonna get wet. i always open all lockers when i get home after fishing in a wet day. But mostly because I want the carpet to dry out on the top.
Now for some reason if I spear a wave, my cooler will take on water, not much but it gets in there. never figured that out, but alas it does not happen often enough to be a problem. My sandwich box has been full of water because of this.
One time I got caught in a situation I had to back up in big waves, water coming over the back deck to the console. My rear storage got alot of water in them. But basically they were underwater for a bit. I took on alot of water.

In general all my compartments stay dry. If you spear waves or take a bunch over the bow while fishing it will start getting wet. But rain hasn't been an issue. However when I tow in the rain with out my boat cover my rod lockers get soaked.

never had the issue in a hard rain and towing. mine stay fairly dry in that situation.

Thanks for feed back on the question on water in the comparts. Did buy a 2024 z21 yesterday,
Congratulations on the boat!! I have a 23’ z20 and before that had a 17’ Z18. I have fished in a ton of rain and some really hard rains and not had problems with water in any of the compartment. I don’t fish big water so don’t have waves big enough to spear.. I hope you like the boat and this form is a great source for information.
Towing in the rain without the cover on has my port side locker wet by the rod butts, caused by water splashing under the footrest plate for the passenger. I removed mine and ran a small bead of silicone around the opening. The cleats have a drain the just dumps into the lockers. Plug those as well. I have not towed in the heavy rain yet to know if this helps. I believe if the rain is heavy and persistent enough it works its way around the compartment lids and goes in the lockers instead of running down the gutter and out.
