Milliken made it sound like he just got a couple lucky bites.. but Sclapper, Taku (made it sound like he expected 11-12 lbs again)

yeah Schlapper is the only one I heard that expected what he got. Everyone else basically had tough practices. But BM must have figured something out

Ding, ding, ding..... except I have no problem with it. The audience it there for the boats and spectacle more than a bunch of 12"ers.

No one goes to a fishing tournament to see the fish.

I just want to point out the Nate Wellman’s record for bringing the smallest five fish limit to the scales at a BASS Elite event remains intact with five fish going for 4 lb. 2 oz. on day 1 of the 2015 Upper Chesapeake Bay event. I was Nate’s marshall that day and I had him at 4 lb. 8 oz. on BassTrak.

Milliken said he caught 40-50 fish today. Said he caught 20 this morning before he caught his first keeper. All on top water. That was his morning bite and he was late flight so he might have a nice little bag tomorrow morning as he’s first flight

its a tidal system that gets salt intrusion regularly. You gotta travel far for bigger fish

Nate caught five 12-13” smallmouths up in the Susquehanna River. Ott Defoe also went up river but found better fish. Ott was so far up the river, which at that point is nothing but water rushing over big boulders, that no one had ever seen a fiberglass boat make it that far. Another example of “don’t buy a used boat from a pro”. Nate never stopped talking. The next day I rode with Andy Montgomery and he never said a word. But Andy caught ‘em. What a master with a jig.

that’s what happens at the 1000 island events when it’s held in Waddington. The town puts on a summer festival with concerts, carnival games and rides, local restaurants have booths.. basically it ends up to almost be better than their county fair.

its great for the areas economy since it’s sparsely populated up there.

Although I didn’t get to watch any of the coverage today, I do like these super tough events. It’s the kind of fishing that we have to put up with in Ohio on the vast majority of our lakes. When it’s tough, one missed fish can make a world of difference.

I just like when guys look like
they are in the middle of a jungle. Taking boats in places where they shouldn’t be. Too bad Christie couldn’t get up to his spot because I really engaged time what that looked like
