Has anyone added a center cleat.

I use those L shaped bumpers when I dock trying not to gouge my rub rail but I am finding out the front bumper does not hardly make contact with the dock since it's where the hull is curved and I was thinking of adding a center one on each side where the flat area ends and the cap starts to tires downward.
Just curious if anyone has added one. I have the cleats that you pull up to put the rope under.
    Thanks

I've seen a few folks add one near the driver side console. I didn't, but I bet those are really handy.
Been fishin' since I was 5 years old...Thanks Grandpa!

Or trim the motor up^. I use the wheel and on the other side I loop a dock rope through the grab handle.

This^^^ If tying to the wheel, stay away from the plastic bezels near the wheel spokes. I've been tying boats up using the wheel or passenger grab handle for years with no issues.

I have used PERCO fender locks for 20+ years on my Rangers to pul the L bumpers in the best place. They mount inside of the gunnel and are out of the way.

There was a post here about a month or two ago.
Someone posted the pull up cleat from amazon.
I bought it and installed it on the top cap right next to my seat.
I wish I had done this earlier.

Three years ago, I added cleats to both sides, just aft of each console. No problems since. The top gunnel is pretty thick. I cut a flat piece of rubber to lay under each cleat. Screwed down with Phillips head screws. I also coated the threads with epoxy to eliminate water intrusion. If you go this route, reverse the drill bit as you begin, drill past the gelcoat before drilling forward. I drilled just enough to seat the screws. There are possibly wires beneath the gunnel, so don’t go too far. I will try to post a picture latter.

I was lucky enough to have access for bolts and nuts.
If not, what you did is perfect.

I wish I could have done what you did. I do check on the screws periodically. Haven’t moved so far.

I have a 2019 Ranger RT188 and have a extra cleat added in the middle right at the console/drivers seat. very handy. I also use the L-shaped bumpers on the front and back when docking for the same reason you are. See it in the picture bottom right Corner. 20250507_183251[1].jpg

My BCB has pop-up cleats in the center in front of the driver and passenger seat. It’s all I use when I dock.

I added these to my driver and passenger side in front of the seat and they work great:

Drilled a pilot hole for the screws then used a 1/2" bit to put a small counter sink so the gel coat doesn't crack when putting the screws in.

I added a fold up on each side in the center just behind the consoles.

I had the same issue so I just bent some kydex into a sandwich that I could snap it over the gunnel and added about 2" of extra material at the top so I could tie the bumper to it. This allows me to snap the bumpers over the gunnel when I need them witthut having to drill holes in the boat or take up a cleat just to tie up a bumper. I'll post a picture later
