The item just got scanned in RI… hopefully not broken when delivered
Shame on them for not getting it delivered by now, BUT shame on you for letting it go too long. What are you waiting for? Go back to the Post Office and have them file a claim for a lost package. You'll need receipt for the rod, your mailing receipt and your claim receipt. If you did them online, make copies. If the person you talk with doesn't know how to file a lost claim, tell them you want someone that does. A missing mail claim is not the same as a lost claim.

The rod was delivered yesterday in one piece safe and sound thank goodness lol
I already did all of that and submitted a missing mail claim a couple months ago. Was back and forth with USPS and they said I’ll just have to wait and that there’s nothing they can do until someone finds the package at the distribution center. Kind of a BS response but I called other representatives and they said the same thing. I asked them to escalate the request and nothing has changed still. I regret not adding additional insurance to the rod. I got $100 for a missing NRX+ from USPS lol. I’m gonna stop by in person and talk to them again soon.
It was supposed to be an even exchange. My 902 for his 872. I got his 872 and tracking said my 902 was on its way to him but never showed up. Made sure that I did the right thing and sent his 872 back as soon as we figured out it’s missing. Stayed in touch with him every other day. Glad he got his 872 back in his hands. Hopefully my 902 shows up somewhere. Lesson learned.
Sorry to hear that, it sucks with USPS. If you ship a rod in a PVC it never gets messed up for me. Sent one in a tackle warehouse tube and it was snapped and somehow the rod survived for the buyer.
If you can be patient and don't need the rod in within 5 days and you can detach yourself from constantly trying to update tracking, USPS ground advantage is THE MOST ECONOMICAL way to ship rods, period. And, I don't know if they are using a new company for insurance claims, or have a new claims process, but they did damage an item I shipped and I got my claim paid IN FULL IN ONE DAY. That is a FAR CRY from the old claims process that would be repeatedly denied for no reason just to see if you would quit and go away..... So that is a true bonus given their shipping costs advantage. If you can forget their estimated shipping time by understanding it is going to take 10 to 15 business days, and you can accept that their tracking will NEVER be accurate, and maybe not updated until it is delivered, USPS ground advantage is a really good choice to ship rods.
That said, if you are shipping to, or around KY, where your rod tube has to be processed through a regional processing facility in the KY area, think twice about using USPS.... I think there is a punk criminal that distribution centers that knows what is in rod tubes, and is either an avid fisherman or someone who understands the resale value of what is in rod tubes, and is picking them off at a pretty high clip. In the last six months, I have had two rods "disappear" from the USPS system, never to be found and never to be delivered, passing through the USPS regional processing facility that handles items headed for final delivery in KY. Over the past 3 years, that has happened to me at 5 times..... No joking here. There is a problem for rod tubes headed for final delivery in KY if using USPS.....
Good to know about shipping rods through Kentucky.
Noe that you mentioned it … I lost one I shipped there a couple months back.
Someone needs to contact the local authorities.
