    Jaguar STS Hull

Is it as responsive as the Puma STS?
The reason I ask is because. My buddy just bought a Caymas CX21, great ride and handled great but not even close as the response in my Puma. Was curious if the length or hull had more to do with it.

The CX21 model is more along the size of your Puma STS model. The nimble hull is a feature of that particular Puma STS and they pulls some performance out of the Puma STS to nuance the ride more. The Jaguar STS is it’s own platform and has some other unique features, plus some of the STS alignments.

Honestly after riding in that 21 footer I kinda liked the extra room. That deck on the CX21 is a full 8" longer length wise.

My Dad has a Puma STS and while I haven't personally ridden in it a great deal, the ride is different than my Jag. I've only had my Jag a few months and haven't gotten to fish it near as much as I'd like (This overrated work thing keeps getting in the way!), but for a big boar, it's very responsive to steering inputs. More so than the 18' Lynx I came from. Now some of that may be due to the power steering on the 400R but my Lynx originally had a G2 300 so I'm familiar with power steering on a bass boat. For a 22' boat, the Jaguar certainly does not steer as large as it is. Just my observation.

But as BC pointed out, two very different hulls. If I'm not mistaken, the Puma STS is a tweeked variation of the old Jaguar hull.

That is incorrect. That hull is an STS version off the bottom frame from the Puma FTD. It is not similar outside of the look, in what it’s depends on for performance. One drive of both hulls will set that straight.

i came from a 21 PHX, which "on paper" was longer including the front deck. However, i still feel like i fish better out of the puma. I believe that the biggest difference in most conventional styles is the nose point is narrower and longer. To me, I can stand way closer to the nose on the puma than i could on others.

however, I do wish the deck carpet itself was about 3 inches longer to accommodate the rod length. Even with that said, the puma sts is a far better fishing platform in my opinion. This may vary with your fishing style to be sure, i skip/flip/pitch jigs etc a lot so it stands to reason why my opinion is this way.

I have never been on the deck of a jag STS so i cant make a comparison but i have surely drooled over one :D There is a local guy here with a 24 Jag with a 500. I want to ride in that boat but then again i dont for fear of ordering one :D

I was thinking about mounting a rod strap on the rod compartment lids to move rods back. I will have to make sure the rods are strapped down when opening a lid. I've said this several times already but wish the consoles had a pocket to lay the rod tips in so rod lays flat. I did this with my old boat and it freed up space to stand from gunnel to gunnel up front.

I agree, I already have an issue on the passenger console where my rod tips get stuck. I had to put some foam in there, frustrating!!
The Caymas console accommodates rods VERY well. I am honestly surprised BassCat hasn't addressed this. Then stand by the notion of "purposely" built features, I think this is a big miss.
