    Seat Replacement Experience

Looking for anyone with experience replacing seats in a X Series or Tr186-196 from model years circa 2006-10.

Am planning on having my OEM seats reupholstered but I am not 100%. Before going that route I am interested in anyone’s feedback that might have installed the high back bucket seats from bassboatseats.com.

My TR196’s seats has are attached with 4 screws to the leading edge of the fiberglass seat pan and with two machine screws through the seat into the back wall.

    Seeking feedback regarding:

    1) Reduced seat cushion height (appears to be almost 4”).

    2) How did do you install them (instructions stipulate bolt down to seat pan & do not connect to back wall).

    3) Narrower seat cushion (almost 2”).

    4) How do they compare to OEM seats (comfort, durability, colorfastness, etc).

    Thanks in advance!

Hello all, I replaced the seats in my '04 Tr186 and found the new ones (bassboatseats.com) are WAY shorter than the originals and I need to use a cushion to raise my butt. It was difficult to stand up at the console (old legs) but now I really need to pull myself up with the lower bottom seat.

They were about $1,100 for the pair. Quality is as good as factory. They make some of the seats for companies like Blazer boats etc..

I used a piano hinge on the bottom front of the cushion and long screws through the backrest into the fiberglass close to where my factory screws were. The cushion and backrest inserts are removable to make it easier to install and maintain.

The console is from Tiny Boat Nation. It's all aluminum and reinforced so you can stand on it no problem.

    Allen,

Thanks for the honest feedback….I am not going to buy them if they are that low.

    JRH 67,

Thanks a million for the lebroc recommendation!! Pricey but they look great. How is your seat height with the lebroc’s when compared to the original seats?

They sit a little bit lower but I actually like it better. One thing I would recommend is if you get serious about ordering some, order the swatches first and make sure the colors are exactly what you want. The online colors sometimes don't match the actual color of the vinyl.

    JRH 67,

Can’t thank you enough for the candid feedback.

I am going to get a couple reupholstery quotes but if the cost is similar I will follow your lead and get lebroc’s. Might add a 1.5” riser (using rectangular aluminum tube and some jelly bean surestep matting) to bring them up to the current seat height.

The seats from bassboatseats.com look good, but they are trash in rough water. You will get beat up. I have rode in a few Tritons with them.

I put the Millennium mesh seats in my Tr18. Best decision i ever made. No more hot ass,wet butt and they are very comfy. I also installed a adjustable base at drivers side. Best part is they only cost a little $200 for the pair.

100% agreed on the bassboatseats.com lack of padding. I had these in my Tr-20, literally cracked a vertebrae on Lake Lanier. I now have 2 blue/gray seats from bassboatseats.com for sale dirt cheap.

I replaced them with PRP Suspension Seats. Bass Boat Archives | PRP Seats.

For install I pulled the seat pan and thru bolted from bottom up, and added a slider for driver side adjustment.

The ride and comfort is everything expected.
