You only listed the money. You forgot the fun bartering, and looking for bargains. One difference of me with you, the only thing I will even look at with Shakespeare on it is an Ugly Stik, and then, only to resell if I get a killer deal.
Have not seen any of the new Ugly Stiks at the flea, and of course, sellers think they are gold plated anyhow.

I’m not allowed to go to flea markets or garage sales anymore.

He wanted $5.00 I offered $3.00 and we settled at $4.00 I figured it was a good deal. He had several old lures including some wooden lures. Had a few Cordell Big O lures I was looking at until I saw the Rapala-la-la-la silent bait.

I did plenty of bartering, never ever pay asking price unless it's such a good deal. I thought those two telescoping rod/reel combo's with an extra kids real was ok for $5.00. I should very easily be able to double my money on that deal. Or at least get my money back while getting a few kids some nice little back pack rod combos.

Edit: Well I bartered quite a bit for everything listed above. I always go looking for older baits and always end up buying tools etc. 200' tape was asking $8, I countered $5 he countered $6 we both laughed and I said sold. Yes the bartering and conversations can be quite entertaining. The guy selling the baits had a big magazine sized older bait catalog with prices for said baits. I mentioned look at the baits in that catalog they are in near perfect condition, your baits are old, stained, rusted or missing hooks etc so not a fair comparison for pricing matters. He was a nice guy none the less.

The Asian guy sold me the telescoping rod/reel combo's was pretty funny talking about how us white men are killing him with Tariffs. We joked about it a bit.
