Opinions please.

I'm looking at upgrading boats from my 18' Triton aluminum boat to a larger bass boat. The boats I'm considering are a 03 521VX with an 03 225 Optimax, the other is a 09 Z520 with a 11 Pro EX 250 on it. Both boats appear in good shape and have mid 500 hours on the engines. The electronics don't really concern me as I'll pull them off and install all my Lowrance stuff. The only difference is resale value. The 521 has one year old Garmin 10" units and Livescope and a 36v Ultrex so there is added value there. There is a $3k price difference with the Z520 being higher priced.

I may bass fish a little but will be crappie fishing 99% of the time.

What's everyone's thoughts?

If it was me I would go for the Z520 if everything checks out

Make sure you get routine maintenance records on any bass outboard with 500 hours. I would also have a certified mechanic check out the motors before buying. It may cost you a couple hundred?

If the Z520 has an 2009 year model trailer I’d pass on that one. Too many trailer problems from 06-09.

I spoke to the owner of the 520 this afternoon, I asked about the brakes on the trailer and he said he’d had them removed. I don’t know that I want to tow that much weight without brakes.
