    Rod storage ideas in ceiling.

Just curious if any of you guys store your rods on the ceiling?? Man it would save me a lot of wall space. I have a pole barn building with ceiling, so I would have to fashion something off the trusses. Any ideas?? Would love to hear. Probably have 50 rods/reels to store.

I have rods stored in the rafters/joists under a loft in my shed…. It’s 2x6’s 10’ long across my shed so I just tacked up a couple 1x2’s crossways and have about 25 rods stuffed up there… (I have way too many extra rods!!)

I use one of these ^^. It's made for using in a van or station wagon but it hangs on my garage ceiling just fine. I use it mostly for old or broken rods I don't use or speciality rods that don't get used during certain parts of the year.

In the Garage I've used PVC tubing
Started with 3/4 (It does bow) Last one was 1" and If I redo them I'd go 1 1/4 or 1 1/2

    In a pole barn
I'd use threaded rod for the drops (3/8) and buy the clamp for the truss

And us use PVC as the Runner. With the Height in a pole barn you could double stack the PVC runners

I think I spent 200 bucks by the time I was done with my racks, if it saves me smashing a single rod it paid for itself. I cant see going cheap on something that is possibly going to hold thousands of dollars worth of rods.

++ those racks keep everything tight to the roof and I can open and close my garage door with the rods above it.

I used the J hook hangers on one end and a 1.5 inch pvc coupler on the other end to hold the butt of the rod. Built a Z looking wood bracket to mount both sides to the ceiling. Get compliments all the time on them, they are working out great.

I got these a long time ago, when NAFC used to send those envelops with cards/ads for products, sometime in the late 90's. Use it to keep the rods above the garage door.

I made this rack years ago and it has worked awesome. A 1x6 drilled with offset holes for the butt end and a 1x6 with smaller holes and a slot for the tip end. One of my tabs broke on the tip end section. The 1x6s were mounted to 1x4s in a T profile so I could attach it to the ceiling easier. It works in either orientation, up or down. I had it mounted to a ceiling section for a long time shown first, and then remodeled the section of the garage where it was previously mounted and wanted to move it to be closer to the boat. I have had a full 23 rods in that rack, its 4' wide. Less than 10 bucks to make it.

For extra security on the tip end, you can put some small nails in and use hair binders on the nails to keep the tip section up there.

Went to Walmart and bought a bunch of the rubber coated screw in utility hooks. Have all of my rods hanging on those. Just skipped a joist.

Built a couple of these out of 1/4" round bar to hang on both sides of the garage door opener.

I made my own ..... very easy outta 1 by 4 pine with s hanger strip. Mine hang vertical although would hang over head easily.... a hole saw is all that is needed. The sky is unlimited. Mine holds 10 rods and reels but could hold 20 or more if made that way
