Do any of you guys fish the river and have any general insight? Is the hwy 90 Launch in mermentau the best launch if coming from the Lafayette area?

Fish it all the time when water gets clean and yes that is best launch close to you.

Thanks bud. I know they have a Friday night tourney at that launch so there's obviously bass in it. Figured it could be decent when water drops and cleans up a little. Is it mostly just finding drains and fishing cypress trees? I use to fart around in the lake but never bass fished the area.

Yes there is bass in there water was looking good till we got all that rain. Yes look for lay downs, cypress tress on points go north from bridge the water cleans up faster bayou nezpique will be first on your left when heading north then bayou des cannes second on left all good fishing. or islands going up bayou plaquemine some are shallow find deeper ones. if going south from bridge mouth of bayou queue de tortue is good also. Plenty of places to fish top water is good first thing and late. Pontoon bridge is closed now so have to go though Crowley coming from Lafayette. Good luck.
