    Northern Lower Michigan Bass Fising

Anyone have any reports up there on both large and small lakes as far bass fishing goes? Spawn? Pre-Spawn? Water temp? Headed up near Wolverine tomorrow just looking to see what I can expect.

    Thanks!

Charlevoix was running 54 to 56 degrees. Water level is down at least 2 feet from last year. Pre-spawn. Highs this next week will be mid 50's with lows pushing upper 30s. I doubt spawn will happen soon.

West Branch area, lake was 60-64 degrees last weekend. Cuts were loaded with roamers and beds.

Yesterday I was on a shallower lake and water temperatures were running 66 to 68. Lots of males on beds on that lake. Curious what is going to happen with the drastic cool down this week.

It will be 37 degrees tomorrow morning when I head out. I drove by Burt, Mullet, and Black lake today. I didn't see anyone out there fishing.

Inland lakes in traverse city area are mid spawn, the big water has giant waves of males moving in.

Anyone know if GTB is doable with wind out of the north at 10 MPH? I know that’s worst possible wind direction but don’t have a reference for how much the waves build at only 10MPH.

Any wind out of N is a no go in my experience, and if forecast is for 10, I guarantee it will be more.

Black lake was running 54 to 56 degrees today. No fish up and no fish on beds. Did locate an area that saved the day. I had the whole lake to myself.

My cutoff is 14, but 10 out of the North will be extremely rough. I wouldn't suggest it.

Thanks for the feedback. Best day was Friday and the warmest, ended catching quit a few off beds with the largest going just over 6.5 lbs, mostly smallmouth. Once the cold and wet weather arrived we ended fishing smallish lakes for largemouth and occasional smallmouth. All fishing was done in the Indian river area. Mullet seemed to be Prespawn (55 degree water temp) and on smaller lakes (65-68 degree water temp), fish were spawning until the cold, windy and overcast weather arrived, then lots of empty beds with fish scattered around.

Does a slight change like out of the NW make a difference if you stick to the West shoreline? Trying to determine if it’s worth wasting my time trying or going to a different lake in the area.
