The HOF is Full of those.
If professionals who's careers depend on catching fish use FFS then that's what I'm using. Might be too simple of a philosophy but makes sense to me.

It's a shame they waited until he died.

I think Rose should have been banned from baseball team involvement. I also think he should be in the hall of fame. You can’t tell the history of baseball without him.

Not really a HOF without the guy with the most all time hits in.

Maybe, but then there's a LOT of players that need an asterisk after their name for various reasons.

At least Pete Rose got his stats without PED's. Betting on baseball didn't improve his hitting ability or make him put forth more effort.
There's lots of decaffeinated brands that are just as tasty as the real thing.

    Hi Mike.

Doubt that will happen since his kids have been meeting with the Commissioner trying to get his Permanent Ban lifted which was the same as Jackson’s and didn’t end with their passing.

Trump got involved and also met with the Commissioner on his behalf. Suspect the Commissioners Decision has more to do with making sure there aren’t any future visa problems for Latin American Players traveling to the states.

This. When he sued John Dowd for defamation one of things that came out was his involvement with 15 or 16 year old girl while playing for the Reds. The HOF already has enough bad characters.

Still broke the rules, but I think Pete always bet the Reds to win not lose. Someone can maybe fact check that.

Shoeless Joe Jackson has also been reinstated. You can only punish some one for do long. Hell they let murders out in 10 -20 years.

That's not as bad as betting on your team to win though.

Like watching the grass grow or FFS fishing.
As for Pete Rose Never liked him to begin with records or not, he still broke the no gambling rule.

Johnny Bench, Joe Morgan and Mike Schmidt had gone to the Commissioner years ago. There was a plan put in place for Pete to get reinstated with certain conditions that had to be met.

Rose wanted nothing to do with it claiming he was going to beat this. There were also repeated attempts over the years from friends who were former teammates to try and get him to humble himself to work out a solution.

He would have been reinstated years ago and most likely enjoyed the HOF experience except his extreme arrogance and ego wouldn’t let him. So who really deserves the blame for his situation?

If you want to own a genuine Pete Rose Apology there are a ton of these plus other items for sale. Nothing like turning a profit out of one of your Major Screwups

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/14555632574...tion=view_item

Could have bought them a lot cheaper in Cooperstown 7 years ago along with old stadium seats, uniforms and bats with that message.

I could see your point if he bet a on the Reds to win every day/every game, but he didn't. He only bet on the days he thought they would win. If he didn't think they would win, he didn't bet. Or maybe if he was in too deep with is bookie he didn't bet on a day and that could tell his bookie that someone was injured or the Reds would most likely loose. So a bookie could change his odds to make more money to offset what Rose owed. Or maybe he was a partner with his bookie and they would split the profits on the days the Reds lost. He was banned "for life" for the idea that he could have been throwing games.

Does anyone bet when they think they will lose the bet?

I guess a lot of guys think that the big Japanese star for the Dodgers really let his interpreter steel millions from him. And he wasn’t betting.

Ohtani’s interpreter recently pled guilty, was ordered to payback the 17 million he stole from Ohtani, and received a 5 year sentence. That’s a high price to pay to cover for your boss.
