Yes I know that, maybe I should clarify it a little more, Do not step on the gel coat getting in the boat (aka gunnel/gunwale), step over to the carpet or from the carpet to the dock.

Have a breathable cowling cover from Tuffskinz that deflects lots of those.

It is fishing not a boat ride. That is going to happen. I sometimes think some foks are afraid to get fish on their carpet

That’s why I keep a vented motor cover on my OB all the time. Stuff happens.

The friend I fish with some out of the back of his boat is the anything goes type for the most part. I counted three worm hooks laying on the carpet and several used soft plastics. At least he doesn't throw used plastics in the water anymore for the most part but I sure do say something when he does.

Second time I fished out of the boat I have now I spilled dye on my console and floor. Had a chartreuse glow for a bit but eventually went away. I was annoyed because it was a new boat but it happens and I still use the stuff when what I'm doing calls for it and don't care if someone fishing with me uses it. Even told a BBC member I wouldn't be mad if he spilled some because I know it will go away eventually.

It happen when you're fishing. Had a partner ship off a piece of my passenger windshield working on his "roll cast".... No need in crying over spilled milk

When my rig gets hit, I tell them that one's free, please try to be more careful, then JOKINGLY, repeat JOKINGLY , from here on if you hit my motor it's a $50 fee, hit my boat it's $75 , & the first time you hit me it's $200 and your azz is going overboard . Kinda hard to be mad at someone after bouncing my boat off a stump, rock, log , dock or seawall . Stuff happens when you use it .

Never an issue unless it keeps happening thru out the day. Such as bouncing lures off the cowling multiple times during your cast. If on a hook set type situation its just part of the game.

Those that complain or get bent outta shape are probably the same ones that have carpet in the beds of their trucks. LOL

stuff happens - ive hit my buddies boat and he's hit mine. no damage

gotta ask what a friendship is worth to you. in our club we had a team split up this year. I think they both browse these forums so I won't going detail but there was an accidental damage to a vehicle (complete fluke accident). well they couldn't come to an agreement with each other and well split up.

I have no issues with an accident but sometimes you will have someone who is flat out careless and have no use for those anglers.

At the end of the day, if I do something and damage your boat I am going to offer to make it right. Why should you pay for my mistake?!

If you damage my boat at least offer to make it right, there is a good chance I'm going to tell you no biggie and not to worry about it. Unless you do something major like break the screen on my graph or put a hole or crack the cowling on my engine.

This reminds me of my buddy that got a new expensive fishing rod, but then refused to use it because it was too nice ?

even more odd is that he treats most of his other stuff like garbage. That includes his truck which he treats like a garbage receptacle. I’ve never understood his logic. Luckily he’s overly respectful of my belongings, boat etc, sometimes painfully so. To the point that he won’t give me a hand moving my boat or truck because he doesn’t want to damage it…or so he says lol

Common sense says if you do major damage to something that’s not yours, you fix it. A little scratch on the cowling, ish happens. Now if you do it three times in a row, then I’m probably going to ask what’s going on.

I’ve always used a motor cover for this very reason, and for the limbs. Used to always fish with a guy that was as haphazard as anyone. No longer have to deal with that since I moved away. All the stressors in my life have been removed…….

I just don't like the look of motor covers. That said, my cowling does have bird shit on it right now so there's that
