My mom is on Medicare. They don’t cover any of her Wegovy. She does need to lose weight but it was prescribed since she had a stroke last year so for cardiovascular benefits. She pays $1300/month. Medicare covers 0. If she was poor and on MediCal it would be free

Question is does meats make you sick, i can't eat my favorite ribeye steak, pork tenderloin and even cheeseburgers without making me feel like i am blotted like a cow
Yes! Trimming the fat on all of them has helped, trim it all off. I found its the fat that makes me queasy and bloated, also add a lot of fiber and cut portion sizes.

I wonder how the cost of a treadmill compares to a year supply of these ridiculous meds. Its a shame these ads are still legal in our country.

    Hi
We buy it from a compounder and its roughly $300 a month.
Depending on the dosage recomended by her Dr a months worth may last longer.
It does come in a vial and you have to draw up the dosage in a syringe and give yourself a normal shot.
It is a small insulin needle.
Her Dr should know of a compounder and the Dr can send in the prescription and when they call she can check on the price and decide if she is interested or not.
We get ours out of Fl.
    Good luck

I just saw an article that big pharma gave permission for these weight loss drugs to be compounded by independent operators during Covid when they were in short supply. But, now major pharma companies are revoking their permission and suing compounding pharmacies that are still producing those drugs.

So you have basically become a cash cow for Eli Lilly, and most likely, they are telling you how these drugs are altering your pancreatic and thyroid output, which very likely are contributing to your weight gain once your come off their biologics. When I had my pancreatic cancer resection, I could not stop loosing weight because food was going through my digestive track without the proper enzymes to allow my intestinal track to absorb nutrients. I went from @235# down to 176# loosing muscle mass and strength like crazy even though I was eating a 60/40 diet, 60 pro, 20 carb, 20 good fats, until my oncologist figured out the proper amount of digestive enzymes to introduce back into my system, which were removed when 2/3 of my pancreas, my spleen, and whatever else was removed due to cancer resection.
16 months later, I am keeping my weight between 197 and 205# with proper diet, daily activities, and digestive enzymes. Your endocrine system regulates your many body functions and greatly influences your glands, hormones and receptors, so if you truly want to control your weight, you need to find an endocrinologist who is NOT a drug pusher for some pharma giving him major perks, or a very good exercise physiologist/dietician willing to sit with you and work out a personal program which you will be able to use for a life time.
There is NO SHORT CUTS in anything worth while in your life, and getting into a healthy lifestyle change is a long worthwhile journey worth taking.

    Hi
Yes they stopped the compounding in Nc everywhere as far as we can find out .
Thats why my Wife had to go to a Fl. Compounder.
Its way too expensive to buy it other wise!
Weight loss also includes a change of life also !
You have to start eating better and exercising as well.
To stop the sick feeling after the shot you cant eat fried food for a few days before and a few days after the shot.
Also limit as much sugar as you can also.
Other wise you will probably be sick!
    Hope that helps someone.

Yep they are both getting what they want The Pharmaceutical Companies Are Gaining Profits and The Customers Are Losing Pounds everyone is happy.

I remember forty years ago some ladies talking at the Gym about losing weight. One remarked pretty soon they’ll have a pill or a shot to take care of that and you won’t have to exercise or diet. Guess she was right

Perhaps the lady was right that pharma would come up with a shot to loose weight, however, losing weight has very little to do with being physically fit with the benefit of bone density like weight training, which unlike the quick way out have very little side effects and other long term damage.
Be wary of those that are trying to sell you a gold brick for 100.00 when gold is selling for 3K per ounce! quick weight lose scams have been around for a very long time, but this time they can kill you.

Def cuts the appetite.. I am on first week (Started Sat) and I have already lost the normal "time to eat" urge.. ie I have to pay attention to the time to make sure I eat something. And when I do eat, I can't eat as much. I've lost 7 lbs in...5 days. Crazy.

Thankfully it is covered by my company so just had to pay copay. Doc did say most Company insurance don't cover it these yet (Therein lies the rub - your company has to choose to cover it when they setup there insurance packages each year - so it's actually the company that allows/denies it, not the Insurance Carrier.) I was a bit surprised when mine did cover it. Part of a larger get workforce healthy deal I guess. Or, that my parent co is in Europe and they look at things a bit differently over there maybe. I'm on UHC, but I assume the other Insurance plans are similar.

I can't afford the name brand stuff, but I got on a compounded semaglutide which is basically the same thing. For the first month, I was on a very low dose and already lost 10lbs. It's amazing how well it works.

You probably already know this, but it's not legal in Florida either. Compounding pharmacies are being allowed to distribute any "excess" they might have made during the approved manufacture/distribution window. But as much as the GLPs were flying off the shelves and the unknown stability of the compounded products, it's reasonable to believe that the Florida compounder is skirting around the law and is still producing the product. They will probably just disappear after they pocket a few bazillion dollars, never to be heard from again.

Just a 3 week update - down 16lbs, so seem to be leveling off a bit. Eating "cycles" are kinda back to normal, but I eat much less before getting full. Sometimes later a night I get bit hungry but try not to eat anything, but occasionally will snack on a bit of fruit. No point in going out to eat, would be a waste of money as I would likely not even be able to get down half your typical dinner out. Also basically drinking nothing but water, either with some lemon juice or crystal light, or 5 calorie juice. No sodas for a few weeks now.

And in the TMI dept... poops are less often and less... volume I guess lol. which makes sense, less going in, less going out. But also energy is down as well, whether it's the medication or just the lack of food intake, or a combination of both, I do not know. On my last week, so if all goes as it has, it will be about 20lbs in a month.

Re the Insurance, I did get an ominous online letter from my insurance claiming it was not covered after they initially approved it. I'm not sure what is going to happen, the pharmacy initially didn't fill it as they were waiting on insurance approval. A day later it was approved (at least I had assumed since they filled it) and I picked it up paying the co-pay, which was hardly anything at all. But now, seems like I may be on the hook for it after all, to the tune of about a grand :(. Will find out soon enough I guess - sometimes the insurance accounting and the coverage get out of sync, ie they'll say "you may owe $$" but then the coverage kicks in and covers it, so I really have no idea at this point. Will just have to see when/if I get an actual bill I guess.

My sister is in a class action lawsuit against Ozempic. Lots of information out there that these drugs can cause cancer, but in her situation, she had CRAO episode and lost sight altogether in her right eye (stroke in her eye). Her husband unexpectedly died of a massive heart attack. She’s had it darned hard as of late. She got off the meds when she lost her eyesight and gained her weight back fast.

I would like to try it but no way I would given the personal experiences that I’ve seen with my own eyes. I’ll just stay fat. Good luck to those on the shots.
