Powerhead gasket

1998 mercury 225 efi SN OG - 607739

is this the correct powerhead gasket? I see 2 different ones and they look totally different <SEE ANNOUNCEMENTS>

This appears to be the new-style powerhead gasket for your engine.

I might suggest that a sure-fire way to get it right is to reach out to Rhonda (see her post, pinned at the top of this forum). She keeps those in stock ready to go.

Note: I would not, under ANY circumstances, accept the older-style gasket. They were fragile, and the material left behind on the surface closely resembles carbon-fiber impregnated, kevlar-reinforced concrete. Royal PIA to deal with when removal is required.

Thanks for your help, I'll be calling soon to discuss sending in my injectors and possibly my reed cages for new reeds. So I could just get the gasket then
