If my memory is correct the year Jason Christie won it was during conditions similar to what this event is sitting up to have. He ran way up a creek /part of the river system in high water to find the winning fish. The water started falling and buy day 4 he did'nt even know if he could make it to his fish because he needed high water. From what I'm reading this event is sitting up to be similiar water conditions.
Yep…he won the Classic as well in an Express. For the record I really like Jason Christie but I’m not so blind I don’t understand how business works. When he left Ranger he released a video on how hard it was for him to leave Ranger since he had been with them several years…what it should have said was the Ranger FLW $ dried up several ago and now that I’m with BASS Express has offer a better deal. Now that Express has came along and put up the $ they are what help me win. No wait Skeeter has up the ante so now they are the best boat. Nothing personal towards Jason because that’s just the life of sponsorship and the reason why I pay ZERO attention to anything a paid to endorse person has to say about product. I’ll seek out customer reviews from paying customers not people paid to promote.
The sabine is much different this time. Toledo is releasing a lot. I was at the mouth of the neches yesterday and the water looked great. Now, thats a good ways from any good bass fishing but if the water is that good up in the river still that means the rains havent made it down so maybe it could hold up. It could turn to chocolate milk also so who knows. Ive heard of guys already trying where Christie was and saw some guys launching where i was. Im wondering if the houston run is even worth it anymore. Does the trinity play this year, it always looks great but not sure how the fishing is
I mean if we are assuming they going to scope then 60lb will take it, since scoping only find the big ones.
I look forward to this tournament. I Love to hear the cry baby's on tour when they have to go fish Sabine. Yeah it's going to be tough and the fish will be smaller. You're supposed to be some of the best in the country so put your trolling motor down and fish. I can appreciate the places these guys are use to going but it gets old watching them catch huge bags on ffs in the best waters in the country. This will hopefully be a hardcore slug fest and if there is ever a venue that has a chance of not getting dominated by FFS it's this one (not saying it won't play). I like to see this tournament because these guys are fishing the type of stuff that I have to fish. Guys get flustered and in their head and have to make multiple game changing decisions throughout the day.
I say 6 is a good number. Also, dominated by FFS. I say that because the water clarity and levels "appear' to be unstable for the guys fishing in the dirt. The FFS users have a lots of deeper holes, ledges and open water to use where this one is going out of. They will likely also have it to themselves. Always a fun derby though.
I don’t know how much of that area is brackish but bass in brackish areas don’t hang out in deep holes… (saltwater is heavier than freshwater and deep holes are salty).
where I live, you can fish “out deep” all you want and all you’re doing is getting sunburnt, and wasting time..might hook a redfish or speckled trout or flounder tho.. bass stay shallow in brackish stuff…. They’ll nose up in to the grass in 6” of water to wait out high tide…
I was plucking them literally off the bank yesterday…. High tide, they were so up against the bank grass, you couldn’t hardly get a cast to them without snagging..
Yeah to listen to folks on this board everyone in every tournament should be weighing 25+lb bags every day since everyone has FFS and its a miracle piece of technology that lets anyone catch bigguns every time they go. Every tournament should be won by mere ounces.
Have you tried a spinner bait with wheels?
