dumb question but I have to ask

How does the center step seat snap into the bench seat on a 95 209 ge? Its straight on one side the has about a 3 inch lip on the other. Does the lip go to the back or the front? If its in the front, does it slide in under the seat between the hinges? Seems like the lip should go in the front but want to make sure. The boat may have been altered in some way so it doesn't fit anymore. When I got it, it was laying in the middle of the boat unattached.

If I remember correctly there are a couple of screws at the bottom near the floor.I think are a couple of screws at the base of the back rest holding it in place. Good luck.

the bottom of the seat is attached with velcro, the center step is positioned with the cupholders towards the back of the boat

I think the issue is that the previous owner removed the velcro and put hinges on the bench

I had a 1996 209TE, the seat bottom was hinged on the front and tilting the seat forward the was the way to remove the step.

I was unable to get it on that way. Luckily, I was able to tap out the pin, install it, and put the pin back in.
