I used to love running before having kids. I'd run 6-7 miles 4-5 times per week. A couple times a year I'd do a half marathon just for the hell of it. Then with kids and work responsibilities I got out of the habit and rode my exercise bike since it was more convenient. When the pandemic hit, I thought I would get back into running since I had the time. After a couple weeks I realized how much I disliked it so I started going on long walks/hikes (8-10 miles) instead which I really enjoy. Over the last couple years I have gotten into cycling and mountain biking. I will always choose those over running since I can do them longer (burn more calories) and it is easier on the joints. I still occassionally go to our indoor fieldhouse and run for 45 minutes just to crosstrain but I never enjoy it. So nowadays I ride my road bike, go mountain biking, go on long hikes in the winter, lift weights (hate lifting), and occassionally run (dislike running). Just turned 51 and feel great. I've cut down on sweets this year and have lost so much weight that I'm going to force myself to start eating more.
