    2008 183 elite speed issues

Okay got a 2008 183 dc has 150 optimax on it with a 23p laser 2 prop. Boat has lithium’s and a force up front. All my bulk plastic and heavy tackle is in the back, 3/4 fuel and half filled live well tanks, I’m 180 pounds this thing is barely hitting 50 mph at 5180 rpm’s. Located on lake of the ozarks. What is the trick with this I keep seeing people brag all over about how they have the same boat and it’s 60+

The prop your running is a dud.

A 23p Tempest is the wheel for that set up,

Yep, as mentioned above, get yourself a 23 Tempest or a Yamaha 23M series.

There is only one diameter of 23" pitch Tempest that fits your motor.

I had a Mercury dealer at Grand Lake (OK) prop my Champ dual console in 1997 (Tempest A45 25P), AFTER I had new 1997 EFI broke in. Boat ramp was 0.15 mile from shop, mechanic did prop test on lake, and told me how Champ ran BEFORE prop purchase.

Still use the same stock 1997 Tempest (CMC ML-65; 65 GPS, 3 lead acid batteries, old Motorguide tm).

    Maybe LOZ has something similar.

You are almost certainly plowing water, these newer GPS trolling motors are playing havoc on these boats. Obtain a Tempest Plus and send it to Josh at Steve's Custom Props on Lake fork.
Explain your issues on his Build Sheet and he'll get every ounce of bow lift and speed out of your rig.

I’ve got the exact same boat with a 175 optimax. I run a 23 tempest that I sent to mark croxton and had him put champion cup on the blades. That really helped me get more of the boat out of the water when on plane. I can get a little over 60 with just me in it. Mid 50’s with live wells full an my partner

You're getting very low rpms for a 23 pitch prop. The first thing I would check is your prop to pad height. 3 1/2 inches would be a good height to start with. You should see an improvement. If you do, try adjusting the prop to pad height more or less a 1/4 inch steps at a time to see if there are any improvements over the 3 1/2 prop to pad. You probably won't have to go more than a 1/2 more or less for optimal height. If you're not satisfied with the height adjustments with the laser 2, go with a new Tempest 23. New so you know it is stock and not "tinkered" with, unless the seller will let you try before you buy. You may or may not have to down pitch the 23 Tempest to 22 inch. The 183 is a heavy 18 foot boat.
