    Sticky ignition switch

    99 Optimax 225
    0G911876, 225 Optimax 3L

When I turn my key to "start" it sort of sticks there and I have to turn it back to run for the starter to engage.

I am having a heck of a time finding what ignition switch I should use.

I think it's Mercury 88107A5 but I am not sure.

Anybody able to confirm what switch I should be looking for?

My assumption is theres not a way to lubricate this switch correct?

Sounds like it’s messed up anyway. Might try some contact cleaner. If it’s still sticky a bit of light lube. You have everything the gain, little to lose. I have had some success but not always.

Don't waste time with that switch. It's done, only question is whether you replace before it takes out the starter, flywheel or something worse.

Rhonda in our Parts Department can set you up- just need to know how the wires connect (molded in, screw-on terminals or push-on spade terminals). See her post, pinned at the top of the Forum for contact info.
