Yes, original Apex is still the current generation.

I really want to upgrade to the Apex line, but it was announced Nov 2020.
I think I'll wait for Gen2 at this point even though it still performs excellent according to those that have them.
Coming up on 5 years, you would expect an upgrade soon as far as electronics go.

Yes, i really don't have any issues with my 3 Apex units, but I do love those One-Boat Network Buttons on the Xplore units. They can not only be used for view favorites, but can also be used to do control functions on accessories... like Stow and Deploy on my Minn Kota Ulterra Quest. Keeping fingers crossed on that for any future Apex updates
