Socks on a rooster is pretty accurate. Lol
so I had been moving the flywheel and that’s what initially got it to go further in and get the drive shaft splines to join. It’s just a little something now holding it back I can’t quite figure it out.
Make sure the shift shaft isn't shoved up underneath the intake (easy to do if you have it mis-aligned with the splines).
If it is, you'll need to carefully coax it back down... and check the gearcase shift-shaft for any burrs on the splines that might prevent you from indexing.

Got it in this weekend with help from a friend. Just had things a bit off line not by much but enough to be frustrating. Good learning experience. It was suggested next time to crank engine put in fwd and kill the engine before taking off lower unit. I also recommend keeping up with all nuts and washers and bolt.
[QUOTE=basstron11;13951844 It was suggested next time to crank engine put in fwd and kill the engine before taking off lower unit.[/QUOTE] leave it in N and no need to run engine before removal , wont help anything with installation![]()
