    Easy Timer

Does anyone know how to acquire a JohnnyRude easy timer and instructions? I haven’t seen any on eBay and haven’t seen any posts from Jughead316 in quite a while. I have a 1991 fast strike 150 (doesn’t have the hot heads/I believe it’s had a new power head at some point) that I would like to verify the idle and WOT timing on. I have rebuilt all 6 carbs, changed out fuel line and primer bulb, done a decarb, rebuilt vst, fixed the primer solenoid, adjusted the cam roller throttle advance (in the sticky), and changed out the plugs to the correct champions. It runs pretty well now, but had a lean sneeze now and then at idle. I changed out the idle orifices to 36 from 43, which helped a lot. It idles in neutral around 950/1000, but idles in gear around 650. I would like to see if I can bump that up just a hair to around 750. The outboard is on a 1992 laser 3880 flippin. So far I’ve reached 5300/5400 rpm at WOT at 63 mph with more left in her (24 original raker blueprinted by Croxton with 10 inch rapid jack). I'm still working on the set up as it starts chine walking. I have read hundreds of threads and appreciate everyone’s help.

I haven't heard anything out of Jerry in a long time. He got upset with a former moderator here and left. Check Ebay for an OMC ignition analyzer that's the official factory tool.

I owned an easy timer at one time that I bought from Jerry... back when I owned my 150 Johnson.

I believe I could still have it. I'll look around the shop and see if it pops up.

I too would like to get some way to check my timing. Is it possible to check with a timing light if you disconnect the yellow/red wire so that the power pack doesn’t engage quick start? How about if you check with a timing light while running after quick start drops out and just advance the timing arm while leaving throttle at neutral? Just wondering if this has been tried.

Engine needs to be running and out of quick start and best case would be for the lower to be submerged. Still need to center the timing pointer per the Sync n link in the manual, TDC must be verified. Keep the strobe away from the EET as light flashes can effect timing.
