    Strainer cleaning procedure

    2015 Merc 250 pro xs

Im trying to clean out the Strainer filter and removed all 4 screws but still can't loosen or remove the lower cowling? Do I have to remove the hose seal behind the engine to get the cowlings separated? what am I missing? TIA

Also- when I remove and install back the Strainer, how do know when stop turning the socket?, or should I mark it?

Did you remove the lower cowl seal? Only need to remove it from the port side and let it hang around the starboard side. Pull the port side lower cowling loose from the rubber piece at the back of the motor where the compressor water output comes out. There is a flush plug there too. 18mm socket for the strainer.
