    Crappie Brakes

Has anyone installed crappie brakes on their Power Poles or Raptors. Fished with a guy who scopes a lot better than me and he said it was an absolute must.

I think it’s goofy looking and a waste of money. But….my wife thinks the same about my new Ranger. Lol

I've fished on boat who had them for crappies. They really made a difference on how well we approached structure and didn't spook things out. I bet the same for bass.
Been fishin' since I was 5 years old...Thanks Grandpa!

    That's true and I don't owe a penny on anything. It's only $1,200.... LOL!

I agree with the poster that said they look goofy, but when we were scoping fish on Dale Hollow, we could almost hit them in the head because the LS was right one them and we weren't drifting.

Also Mactlman, I don't fish enough!

I looked at a few boats with them rigged and all I could think is they have to be hell on the pivot bushings, still considering getting a set though.

They only add about 12 lbs each on the poles and they are mounted in the holes that actually hold the removable poles. I am not sure that much weight will make that much of a difference. My problem is my Raptors don't always go down or come up evenly. One generally comes up faster than the other. We'll see how they do.

Facts. I have a tackle addiction for sure. Good news is my nephew started getting into fishing, so I gave him a lot of stuff and I'm hopeful he turns into a decent angler. Right now, he's sending me pictures of catfish he's catching out of neigborhood ponds, asking me if he can eat them. Ugh...

This person you fish with...is there a chance he could let you run the trolling motor for a hour or so while scoping. Preferably in a light wind situation where you can get a better feel of how useful/not useful they are. I have zero experience with them but if I were and someone I fish with had them I would hope they trust me well enough to run the trolling motor for a few minutes one day when out fun fishing that way I could get a good feel for it and form my own opinion.

I ran his boat with them and it was insane. You can stop on a dime, back up a little or bump them forward, because he had the forward and backward brakes. I ordered them. Going up to LSC in a couple of weeks, but they aren't needed there, but Dale Hollow has turned into a pure scoping lake for me.

Fish won’t notice! Rest of us will be whispering it through.

I thought the same thing years ago when Talon and Power Pole first came out. Now I pay zero attention because there's so many people with them its now kind of normal. I don't thin crappie breaks will get to the point of being real common but I already don't pay any attention if someone has them.

I’ve used them on a buddy’s boat for ffs open water crappie and they are well worth the money.

Ok, I checked them out on Watts Bar this weekend and while they may be majorly douchey, you can straight up scope any fish. I proved it with a few catfish, a gigantic striper, and about 20 bass. Nothing like stopping on a dime. Fishing was pretty fun this weekend with them.

I installed the manual deploy brakes on my 620VS for single pole crappie fishing. I love em.
