Exclamation 2012 SHO 250 just quit. Need advice, please help

My 2008 Ranger is equipped with a 2012 SHO 250. 465 hrs and it has been trouble free. I am mechanically capable and the 100 hour maintenance including plugs is done every spring even though I only ever run 50 to 70 hours a year. This morning, while running at a steady 40 mph up the Coeur d'alene River, the motor just quit. No rough running, no cough or sputter, no alarms, just shut down like the kill switch was pulled. Didn't seem like it got hot, was pumping water before it died. It cranks over fine but will not start, as if there is no spark. Has fuel to the filter on the front of the engine. I don't see any leaks of any kind. Before I take it to a local shop where it will sit for a month before they get to it, where should I start looking for the problem? Is it maybe something simple like a fuse, etc? I am so bummed, the largemouth are moving shallow and need to be caught. TIA

I would start by looking at the kill switch.

However, if the motor is cranked with the kill switch closed the warning horn should sound. Which you did not mention.

There are fuses however, one of which might have blown. Location is shown in your owner's manual.

if I pull the Kill switch and turn the key on, I get the alarm. Replace the clip in the Kill-switch, no alarm. I found the main fuse box high on the starboard side. All the fuses have continuity.

my 225 sho will do that about every two or three years it always been the main 30 amp fuse it is located in the fuse panel on the starboard front at the top of the motor.
I was in a tournament, thought it was something to do withe the kill switch. I was on the trolling motor trying to get to the ramp guy stops to tow me tell him whats going on he hops in my boat pulls the cowling as me running in about 30 sec. Since then I have talked to others who have the same problem. Yamaha says they do not know what is happening. I keep 5 or 6 in my boat at all times. Engine was 4 years old the first time it did it. Hopefully it something simple for you.

All of the fuses have continuity. The plugs all look good, dry, a little soot around the rim and clean electrode. Oil looks clean, normal level. It has spark too.

Fixed it. The plug on top of the fuel pump came loose. I have no idea how or how long it’s been that way. Pushed it in, heard the click, turn the key, varoom!

now I’m bummed that I didn’t figure that out while I was on the water. It was quite an ordeal to get home. Thanks to those who tried to help.
