    5-3 Green valley report.

Got on the water at a good time 6:27am. It sure gets light soon and if you want to be there before it’s light you better get up early!! Water was pretty clear, wt was 60*-61* I had lots of baits on deck to start. First good one was on a Jerkbait. Second good one was a spinner bait and 3rd good one was on a jig. Also caught some on a 3.8 swim bait… all the good ones (only 3) were 5lb. My other keeper was a 15” line scratcher Lol. I just couldn’t get that last keeper, I did leave at 12:15 though and I think I would have got it before 2pm….. Well let’s say that right lol. I had to get home a little early because my daughter is going to prom tonight. My little girl is not little anymore……

Seemed like the bigger bass were on a point and close to hard rock/structure. Plus in 6ft or deeper. Couldn’t get any big up shallow yet. I can’t say for sure I saw any carp? But not much grass. All my bites came from the campground point east.

Does anyone have good luck on the north west side?

I figure any fishing trip is a success when you can catch a five pounder. Even though you didn't catch a limit of keepers, I'd take a day like you had anytime. Good work!

Thank you! I was pretty pleased and I only fished 6hr. How’s the fishing been for you in eastern Iowa?

It's been pretty slow lately. I haven't gotten out a lot since my son is a senior in high school and we've been having end-of-year graduation stuff going on. The last time I got out I only managed three bass. Two dinks I got on a chatterbait and then I got one nice one (4.8 lbs) on a Big M 4.0 crankbait. That was the weekend before last. I'm hoping to get out this Saturday since our son's graduation party is now over. I have a bad feeling that the bass are going to be on beds really soon and I always struggle during the spawn, so I think the next 2-3 weeks might be tough for me.
