    Best setup for livescope

I have a 10” Garmin echomap with the lvs 34 transducer. I have one up front and the same exact screen at the console, connected with the cable that allows me to see the same thing at both screens. I’m using a small lead acid battery right now and it’s not very good, I get low voltage alarms after fishing for 5 hours. I’m in Louisiana so most of the water I fish in is muddy. I’d like to know y’all’s opinion on best setting for muddy water. The best battery. And anything else that could maybe help me learn how to use livescope. One thing I have not figured out is when my lead acid battery gets low the livescope itself stops working and the screen on the front deck stops working but the one at the console stays on and works fine(except for livescope), I’m guessing this is a problem with the wiring. Sometimes I have a problem seeing my bait. I think something may be wrong with my mounting or trolling motor because the bottom is straight across the screen but the surface of the water comes into view after about 50’ out. Also on the lvs 34 does the wire face forwards or backwards? I know this is a lot to read and thanks in advance for any help.

For the battery, I use Ionic lithium and am very happy with them.

Sounds like a lot is going on. Small battery, insufficient wiring, etc. You dont give specifics on what boat, is it factory wiring, one click , two clicks, how/where is it mounted, etc. etc. ...... To replace your existing battery would help your low voltage issues with included the units shutting off. Not know what wiring you have but if it old and factory, it wouldnt hurt upgrading as these newer electronics take alot more than the older ones from back in the day. I've been running Ionics for years, great battery but they do have other brands out there and also some that come straight from China, but support wont be the best since you are dealing with someone over there. Wiring, you can buy wiring harnesses that are set and ready to plug up or if you are knowledgeable you can get your own and build it yourself. Dont forget you need your fuses.

First off a 60ah Lithium would be great. I also highly recommend the Ionic but others have had success with cheaper ones from Amazon.
Mount it in a front hatch if you can near the black box, so when you rewire it all, the run is much shorter.

Here is the correct orientation for the LVS32 depending on which side of the shaft/pole it is on.

And yes the LVS34, the cable always comes out of the transducer in the rear.

Make sure your transducer install depth is set to about 1'.
Don't try to look out to far. 80-100' max to see lure better.
A Zero degree mount like the Fish Obsessed Dominator mount also helps you follow your bait and fish easier.

There is about 2-3 feet of wire between the battery and black box. The black box is as close as possible to the transducer. I don't know enough about wiring to know if there is an issue. I have a 2022 Avid 20xb with a 200 Yamaha SHO and a minn kota ultrex 112 pound thrust.

Does a good battery actually help the image quality or does a new battery just make it last longer?

    Just makes it last longer.
You are drawing about 5-6amps total, so a 60ah battery divided by 6a draw = about ten hour run time.

With my lead acid there is a lot of noise on the screen at times. Are you saying with a lithium battery there will still be noise but it will last longer?

With this new of a boat, the wiring should be adequate enough......sounds like an issue with to small of a lead acid battery.....is that also your cranking battery? As for the "noise" i'm in central part of the state so with my experience, the deeper the water the better the reading BUT also we have dirty water, its not clear with 5' or more of visibility....all these things can factor in also with your screen.....

The livescope wiring was added in after I bought the boat. When I bought the boat there was a humminbird helix 9 at the console, we took it out and put the Garmin in place of it.

Deeper water in Virginia is not bad right now. 10'+. But shallow is terrible with all the pollen. It's always changing. Don't expect miracles.
