    1987 Suzuki DT115TC Issues

I have a problem which is driving me nuts! Bought a 1987 Ranger with a "87 Suzuki dt115TC engine. Engine starts and runs fine but will not produce power to plane the boat. Feels like it's in safe mode. Tested everything, compression, spark advance, etc. all good. Symptoms, no alarm buzzer when key switched on. All sensors tested and good. Carbs have been totally disassembled, cleaned and adjusted. Another wierd thing; disconnected oil level sensor (whichn tested good) and the Suzuki gauge (alarm indicator) still showed full oil tank. I have repaired OB's for over 50 years and never been this stumped! Oil level reset switch (tested good) does nothing. ANY ideas would be sincerely welcomed! Previous owner said never had problems and boat ran 41MPH. I kind of suspect the low oil warning reset unit, but no way to test it. Help!

Your feeling is probably correct. I had a situation on a Yamaha where is the overheat buzzer in the control box had rusted and rotted out, therefore causing the unit to go into safe mode. I would try to separate the motor from the remote control box by installing another box if possible I understand it’s highly unlikely.

Can you link out or disconnect the oil level sensor, depending whether it fails to open or closed?
