    Map options for Echomap Ultra

What is best map that allows depth highlight and shallow water shading? The built in map doesn’t give many contours. Am I best to buy a card or get through Active Captain? It’s been a few years since I had Garmins, just switched back.

The current mapping is offered in either Garmin Navionics+ and Navionics Vision+ packages. You can see all the details here:

    https://www.garmin.com/en-US/p/794377/pn/010-D1893-00

Both packages have the ability for depth range and shallow water shading, but the Vision+ offers numerous other premium features like Dynamic Lake Level, Relief Shading, Satellite Imagery, among others. I always recommend the Download option given the downloadable "daily update" feature of the Garmin Navionics mapping through ActiveCaptain. I think it's most simple this way, as all your mapping is stored on your AC card. When buying the physical card, you still must download any future updates along with some premium mapping features, and these updates are stored to your AC card, not the purchased physical mapping card.

Vision+ has been awesome for me, had the subscription ever since it came out and loved it. Relief shading and sonar imagery have been very nice to have on certain bodies of water
If we don't have issues with it, what will we have?-JM
